Bourn, a 3/4 outfielder and Constanzo, our only real chance of having a minor league third baseman play for this team for Lidge...
Lidge still strikes everyone out though he walks a few. If it really puts Myers back into the rotation, it would be a very good move. Bought Lidge fairly low...
Initial reaction is that I like it. Lidge was a pretty solid pitcher in 2007 after a brutal 2006. 88 strikeouts in 66 innings confirms he still has stuff. And it moves Myers back into the rotation which is the best thing about it.
What is Lidge's salary for next year? And do you think this means we are more likely to re-sign Rowand?
I'm fine with this deal - I didn't see Bourn as much more than a 4th outfielder, and Costanzo is iffy. Lidge should be good for a year and then be a Type A.
This seems pretty decent, though I don't know much about Costanzo and what his ceiling might be(though I don't think he is expected to be good at the major league level). Seems like a trade that we are getting value back for Bourn, which is nice, because he might not have value for that much longer.
Seems like an Ed Wade trade in the opposite direction almost, though he still may be the one on the wrong end, at least hopefully.
