tesla never releases counts, but based on reservation numbers shared on tweeter, sleuths have deduced that there's more than 200K pre-orders for cybrtruck. Maybe the stock will bounce back!

I preordered the dual motor/Autopilot... 100 bucks, why the hell not. Don’t know where I’ll be in life when it finally hits the streets, but can’t wait.

It’s an oversized cross between a delorean and Subaru Baja in my opinion. Don’t understand the triple motor thing. That option provides more range, but as far as driving, I don’t why he didn’t go for four with one at each wheel. Thinking more street performance, which I don’t care about.

I haven't been able to find any info about the lack of mirrors yet. Elon tried to do this before with the 3, but regulators shot him down. I'd wager by the time this rolls of the line* there will be side view mirrors.

Other things of note that I've gleaned from the fanboy world:

there is no frame. The body is 300 stainless steel. thick and strong, so the body itself is the frame.

It is made by crimping the stainless- no stamping required. as such, assembly time and complexity is greatly reduces. In fact they say there will be no assembly line for these, and the assembly area(s) will be contained in a much smaller footprint than a typical build. No paint also helps shrink the assembly footprint.

Some interesting speculation. given the price points and battery capacities, it may just be that tesla has new battery technology that they feel will be ready for prime time in the two year timeframe before this is slated to ship. Indeed, a 500 mile range vehicle for $70K does seem amazing.

There;s 120 and 240V electrical outlets for the jobsite. Oh, and air ports for air tools. Apparently they run off the compressor used for the dynamic air suspension.

There is a solar cap available, and a standard ramp.

They also teased a little electric ATV that may be an option and some point.

Maybe Tesla has figured out how to integrate Maxwell's supercapacitor technology into their battery systems in some way that will significantly improve range?

One thing we know - Elon has never been over-optimistic about his products.

Possibly, but from everything we know about it, it doesn't make sense from an economic standpoint.

also, i gotta think insurance for the cybrtruck is gonna be really high. well, at least the collision part. Will take specialized repair techniques.

these guys are as big of fanboys as you'll ever see, but they do the best job of explaining all the details of the cybrtruck. tl;dw: it's extremely functional.

I've squirrelled away enough synthetic oil for my next two oil changes- so at least 18 months out. Was ready to click buy on a sale on oil today when I realized that in 18 months I will probably not need oil ever again

up close to $360. I *knew* i should've emptied by piggy bank when it was $225.

New updates:

NHTSA is taking public comment about allowing cameras in lieu of side view mirrors. I guess this is anticipating approval.

Someone pointed out that there's no windshield wipers. Words is that this is "transparent aluminum" and highly polished- so smooth that water won't stick. like the rain-x effect. I'll believe that when I believe that.

based on pre-orders, they've flipped the production schedule. $40K, rear wheel drive 230 mile version now pushed until until 2022. $70K tri-motor 500+ mile version now late 2021 along with the $50K dual motor 300 mile.

Shanghai may or may not be delivering 3's yet. Pictures out there with 500+ model 3's in the lot. Could be YUGE for Q4/Q1 earnings.

I'm sure everyone has heard that gig 4 is announced for germany. If they get that up in record time like shanghai and ship by the end of 2020 the stock may need to split.

Buying a new car next week. Deciding between a 2019 Ford Fusion hybrid with 10k miles on it, a 2018 Challenger GT AWD with 20K miles, a 2109 Jeep Compass with 25k miles, AWD though. Also a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD with 23K miles on it, a Nissan Pathfinder with 30K on it, and lastly a new 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander AWD. I'm more looking for an all wheel drive/4x4 in case I move back to Philly, and I plan on getting a dog at my next duty station once I'm off this boat. Figured it would be easier with an SUV than a sedan. All of those cars are 21K and under in price.
Piss off.

SOB smashed into me from behind while I was sitting at a red turn light. Not sure where he was going since he missed the dude behind me (good thing since he was on a motorcycle) and whacked my right rear corner panel. Maybe mr. uber thought he could slide into te turn lane without seeing the motorcycle.
