For that deep and interesting of a look at history? Nope.

Did start listening to Mysterious Universe recently which is like Coast to Coast AM as a podcast run by two Australians who make fun of the stuff.

Been listening to the things you might have missed in history class podcast from how stuff works. The info is good, but I'm not a fan of the two hosts so I tend to skip around on it a decent amount.

Not sure if this is available in an audiobook format, though.

The latest ep of TAL was awesome. They solicited the best "coincidence" stories from their listeners and compiled the best ones. Some of them are really hilarious and/or poignant.

Was that an old one? Did a girl tell a story about getting sick on the subway and puking in a trashcan?

I think so, but I hadn't heard it before.

Why I ask: she told a story about feeling sick on a subway train then running to a trashcan at the next stop to puke. And as she was puking, a guy came running up to the trashcan and started puking too, totally unrelated to her puking. He just also happened to be sick.

Well, I know that guy. And I knew that story before I listened to the podcast. So while she was telling her coincidence I was having this other meta-coincidence on top of it. I think my friend contacted TAL to tell him he's the guy in her story but nothing came of it.

I heard the topic, listened to the first story and gave up.

Radiolab was really good this week. All about the Authorization for Use of Military Force.

I've been having a hard time with TAL's "theme" episodes, as opposed to in-depth ones on a particular story, but it could just be my attention span fading

you know the majority of their episodes are themes, right? it has been like that for 20 years.

I'm a casual fan, mostly picking and choosing the popular ones from the archives, many of which are single-story or at least have an anchor story

When I do listen weekly, I dunno, maybe they're not linking pieces together as well as they used to? Or it could be me

I want to like Grantland's "Do You Love Prince Movies," but those dudes are just terrible on the mic. Still listening to "Hollywood Prospectus" every week but am tiring of those two cracking each other up

Agreed on both counts. Prince Movies is a really tough listen. I skip most of the Hollywood Prospectus casts. There's a level of arrogance from Andy Greenwald that is pretty damn off-putting. Anything he doesn't like is just plain garbage.

Just looked at the Play store listing. They've definitely improved it since last year when I was comparing apps. It always had a better interface, but BeyondPod had way more features. Now it seems like they're comparable, including variable speeds and Chromecast streaming.

I just got into Hardcore History and was looking at the topics and chose the one that seemed the most interesting to me (WWI). I'm pretty bummed that it's a topic in progress and that updates have been 2 to 3 months a part. I'll savor this next 4.5 hours while I ignore work and learn more about how the United States saved everyone. I think that's what happens right?
