Well, he's got however many episodes of him apologizing for being a dick for the last 20 years. His ability to get folks to talk about things they wouldn't normally talk about is directly tied to his living this 12-Step Emotional Recovery thing he's doing since the start. He's a dick, but for the most part, seems to realize it and actually care about other people now. I would never go see his stand-up because his monologues are really grating, but then he turns around a runs a fairly compassionate interview.

He's definitely neurotic and annoying at times, but that makes him an astute interviewer, as all of the comics -- even Dane Cook, ffs -- are neurotic annoying neurotics

yeah, i just find it annoying when it seeps into an otherwise good interview. he just interrupts good stories b/c he's so self-involved

Man, I've been a fan of Marc Maron since the mid-90s when he hosted Short Attention Span Theater. Of course he's a great interviewer, but his comedy and show intros are the shiz as well. I don't agree with all of his opinions, but his neuroticisms and personality sure make me laugh.

Gotta give props to the Daily News Sports Week. David Murphy is awkward as hell, but on the second one in particular the conversation was lively and the guests informative

I started listening to Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend. Since she's my favorite part of Carolla's podcast (which I find myself just picking certain eps to listen based on the guest and end up skipping his beginning rant), I figured I'd check it out. She's really fun to listen to, and seems to have a good sense of self. Sometimes it can stray into therapy for herself, but I think it shows her human side, rather than just being a one-liner and quip machine like she is on Carolla.

Also happy to report Marc Maron was this week's guest. I dont like his interviewing all that much, but I do love when he's the guest on a show. He seems less concerned with 'getting something out of someone' and more just going with the flow.

pete seemed to laugh at every one of his jokes. i thought a few were funny, but i don't think he's a good comedian. i saw he has a podcast after that and downloaded the ones where he interviewed people i like and then i deleted them. i dont like his style. dude is basically the stereotype of a UCB LA-based comic. it's like he's chris hardwick but without the laughs and realness i get out of him.

i also listened to some guy called tj miller on his podcast and that guy seems verrrryyyy unfunny.

oh yeah, another podcast i really like is The Indoor Kids with Kumail Najiani. dude is pretty funny, and i like the video game talk. if anyone likes comedy and skyrim i'd certainly give it a go

sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day really lets you listen to a lot of podcasts.

The host of Grantland's "Hollywood Prospectus" TV pod is spazzy, the critic a little precious, but it's worth the weekly listen if you watch Mad Men and/or Game of Thrones

The first four minutes of episode 199 are great. The rest sucks though, so stop after four minutes.

Oh yeah, we make a podcast now. Movies and comics with a weird MST3Kish veneer. It's definitely odd and a bit rough in the first few issues on the oddness. Not sure how many of you would be interested but it's here:

Radio Free Echo Rift

You can always letter bomb or voicemail bomb (856-208-RIFT) us if you get bored and/or drunk. We'll probably play it on the podcast if it's not so X-rated we can't stand ourselves after listening (we have a fantasy agenda of staying PG-13).
