Mike Lee is at the hearing. He tested positive 10 days ago. If we are lucky there will be another outbreak in the next few days.

CDC says 10 days after symptoms onset and 24 hours after your last fever is when you're OK. He had symptoms prior to testing positive, so he's presumably past both of those hurdles.

don't ruin a good narrative jh

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-0869-5

Our analysis suggests that viral shedding may begin 5 to 6 days before the appearance of the first symptoms. After symptom onset, viral loads decreased monotonically, consistent with two recent studies8,9. Another study from Wuhan reported that virus was detected for a median of 20 days (up to 37 days among survivors) after symptom onset10, but infectiousness may decline significantly 8 days after symptom onset, as live virus could no longer be cultured (according to Wölfel and colleagues11). Together, these results support our findings that the infectiousness profile may more closely resemble that of influenza than of SARS (Fig. 1a), although we did not have data on viral shedding before symptom onset6,12. Our results are also supported by reports of asymptomatic and presymptomatic transmission13,14.

Maybe this belongs in the Unpopular Opinion thread but I am relieved to know that Mike Lee, and all the other infected sycophants, can return to the GOP's critical business of hypocrisy, word breaking, and stealing a SC seat.

Joe Biden making two campaign stops in Ohio today...

Would like to see him hit Florida a couple more times as well as Wisconsin and Georgia

It's remarkable the illogical hoops they expect people to jump through to track with this.

why are they even holding hearings? Take the vote today, and it will be exactly the same as what it would be after the hearings, even if the candidate confesses to eating infants as ritual

It's unfathomable to me that they haven't prioritized how to conduct their legislative duties remotely. In a pandemic. In 2020.

Good question.

He is sending Jill to Texas tomorrow.

Hopefully they roll out Obama here soon too.

If I were Biden and I had a big money advantage over Trump - which at this point I would say it is pretty clear that he does have one - I would be pouring money into Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, Florida (obviously), but especially Texas (and I think they are). To me the holy grail of this election is TX. If you can somehow pull that off this cycle, you send a clear and unequivocal message that this can never happen again, and you get Texas "used" to voting for a D, thinking it is a possible outcome.

If you win a cycle with CA, NY, FL, and TX - you'd rightly have the Republicans shitting their pants about future prospects.

It wasn't the goal but now that it's in play...

Also Beto is a fucking idiot. What on Earth has he ever done that would remotely qualify him to be Vice President of the United States - to a 78 year old man?

it was either wapo or nyt who had an article the other day saying current thinking is that PA is the key. that is, he who wins PA wins the whole thing.

538 moved WI to the tipping point state after months of it being PA.

I would say it is Florida. Trump absolutely HAS to have it. Right now Biden has the lead.

There are conceivable maps wherein Biden, who is "from" PA, wins PA but does not win the election. There is no conceivable map where Trump loses FL but wins the election.

Also maybe Michigan. Of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, I think, in order of likelihood of a Biden win, it is:

Pennsylvania
Michigan
Wisconsin

This is because I think Biden has a "home field" advantage in PA that he does not have in MI or WI. I acknowledge that 538 shows Biden as having a better chance of winning MI than PA (91-9 vs. 87-13), just a gut feeling.

EDIT: PA is back to being the tipping point state after WI and PA had flip-flopped yesterday

FURTHER EDIT: I guess the real key is FL + one of PA, MI, or WI. Without Florida, and assuming no other Trump states, Biden has to run the table on PA, MI, and WI to win, so it is conceivable that Trump could win the presidency without Florida. With Florida, Biden needs only one of the three. And if Biden wins FL, the likelihood he picks up one of the three is pretty large. Arizona is also something to consider here because Biden can lose PA, MI, and WI if he picks up FL and AZ... but again, hard to imagine a map where he adds AZ and FL but doesn't pick up one of PA, MI, or WI.
