Biden in Plain Sight: Politics

New FOX NEWS poll has Biden up 5% over Trump in Ohio...

That would be shocking...I still expect Trump to win that state...he won it by almost 8% in 2016...

I did read another article though that Biden is all over the TV there with ads and Trump pulled out of all TV buys there...

I have sincere regrets that efforts weren't focused more on allowing as many people to vote in person as safely as possible, rather than mail-in ballots. Nothing like asking to do a familiar task in a completely new way to guarantee a shit show. It will benefit the voters with the best organization, which of course calls to mind the Will Rogers line.

Shit’s legit MB. RNC hitting up the anti-masker crowd, they DGAF. While the DNC has their hands tied being social distant for their voter registration drive. The DNC here in PHX had a couple of drive-thru voting drives in south PHX and maryvale with disappointing numbers. This info comes from a friend who volunteers for the DNC.

Trump's campaign is broke.... too many grifters with their hands near the money. That's the story.

Or maybe he knows he doesn't need to spend money to win.

Trump dumped a billion dollars visiting places to feel the love for 3 years and now he can't afford shit. Also, of course, he is paying the rest of the family to be part of the campaign. Then again, the bankruptcy king of America (a Trump like over-brag) should have no lower expectations then running his campaign into the ground.

I totally agree, a missed opportunity to both reassure voters that voting in person can and will be safe, but also re-enforcing that a mail in ballot is legitimate. Anyone could have predicted this idiot and his sycophants to beat a “fraudulent voting” drum loudly, and once again the American public is dumb enough to at least question it. My best guess is they steered clear of this tactic because they didn’t want to seem like they were diminishing the virus, which they have been using as a crutch.

It would have been so simple too. In most cases people will encounter less people at a voting location than they do a on a typical run to the grocery store or Target.

The Dems are awful at messaging. This is yet another example. When is the party going to man up and grow some balls?

I am tired of being represented by weaklings.

We used to be willing to get down and dirty. See: FDR, JFK, RFK, LBJ. We need to get back to that sort of politicking NOW.

Really. The only prep he’s ever done is pull on a condom a couple of times. Even then he probably paid someone to do it for him.

If that is true, it can only be because the Trump campaign believes Ohio is a baked cake and in the bag for their candidate. He cannot lose Ohio and plausibly win the election, so pulling ad buys there as a concession would make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Tell that to the people in big cities, esp in the south. I'm sure they love having a mail in option

Everyone flipped their shit at Wisconsin for holding their primary/state Supreme Court election back in April, which did seem kind of dumb at the time. And then nothing bad really came of it and lots of other states have voted in person since then, and it seems like it's like going to the grocery store or whatever. You take modest precautions, and you're perfectly fine. At some point along the way though it became something accepted in some circles that voting in person is making people risk their lives in order to vote, and vote by mail was the only safe option. Looking at the primaries in places that heavily boosted VBM where it took weeks to figure out who won with relatively low turnout, I have no idea what it's going to look like in a general election, but it's probably going to be quite bad. Obviously in the states where Republicans are preventing counting from getting a head start will only make it worse.

It's wild the splits in intended vote method in polling. Like came out of the field last night in a swing state with pretty high traditional absentee/mail voting, and 35% of Trump voters are planning to vote in person on Election Day vs. 9% of Biden voters. Election Night and the days/weeks afterwards are going to be fucking bizarre. The swings in election returns based on what's being counted are going to be massive. Hopefully Biden wins Florida by at least a few points, and it's all over by like 9 PM Eastern.

truth of the matter is that we don't know what covid is going to look like anywhere on 11/3. And we even knew less when this path had to be chosen. This is by far the best option.

I think it’s going to be even uglier this time. He’s going to get super personal with Joe to try and fluster him. Hunter, drug use accusations, whatever he thinks it takes.

This. Hindsight isn’t 20/20.

Imagine if they didn’t take this path and the pandemic became significantly worse, and many people decided to NOT show up and vote.

Option A - no VBM, no virus outbreak, all done in person (good for Dems)
Option B - no VBM, virus outbreak, voters don’t show up (very bad for dems)
Option C - VBM, in person voting, risk of votes not all counting (ok for dems)

Sometimes, you play the odds to avoid the worst outcome. That’s what the dems did, and I think it will be fine overall. Not great, a challenge sure, but overall fine.
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?
