He means risking getting the ballot too late. I think that's a fair concern considering what happened in the primary. Counties are much more prepared now, but if you can go in person at this point you may as well.

In person has plenty of problems too. Can't tell you how many times I've been at the poll and people show up at the wrong place, aren't registered at all, etc etc.

I’m registered and know where to go

I really think more Dems will vote in person than what they are predicting

Unless COVID really spikes in the next month

I remember thinking that Amash might save us by running for POTUS.

After saying he was going to run against Trump, he quit congress and then disappeared. Weird someone would go from exploring a prez run to leave politics altogether. I guess he could just be reassessing, but I can't help but wonder what kompromat they might have on him.

The closer we get to the election, the more I think the winner of PA gets it, unless the dems can get AZ and one of the ME/NE votes.

And we've been dealt several blows in PA already.

This is going to be close and close might be enough for Trump to hold on given that he's going to steal 1-2% at least.

I'm very motivated to vote, and I'm hoping others feel the same.

I know it's getting talked about some, but Biden's lead among 65+ voters is wild, real and still underdiscussed.

Like, people say shit like "Trump's voters are dying"... but Biden is winning old people. For real. Seems like it's so counter to what expectations are that it should get more focus.

The Trump sweet spot is 45-64. Biden does relatively better with younger than that rather than older, but is usually at least narrowly ahead with seniors in tight states, with some exceptions.

I spend a lot of time with the 18-22 year old group. They are pretty unhappy with the way things are going.

but will they drag their asses to the polls? Do you get the sense more of them are going to vote?

Not sure why you thought he was going to save us, an Amash third-party run almost certainly would have just siphoned off moderate Republicans that would vote for Biden. Quite frankly, he saved us by not running.

This is the stuff that has me despairing. I'm phone banking for Biden on the weekends, but what can I realistically do as a citizen to counteract a coup?

As I alluded to earlier, this is just liberal fearporn. The state officials are not going to risk their lives for Trump's sake.

I read an article saying he was leaving in July. Maybe he announced he wasn't running again and I misread it. Anyway, he has withdrawn any interest in running and has basically disappeared from the discourse despite Trump going farther and farther from established norms. He was outraged but now he's completely silent. Just wondering why. It's a weird flip that seems to go against his personality.

I don't think many Reps are voting for Biden regardless. I think Amash is one of their own and they would vote for him as a libertarian. I know several reps who were hoping he would run, though that was over a year ago.

Nice. Yeah, I guess just issue with more infrequent voters or even stuff like the maintenance person didn't come and open the school gymnasium early enough for the poll workers to set up or someone forgot to drop off the scanning machine. That kind of stuff happens a lot.

So everyone saying in person is a surefire way to vote is ignoring all the problems that can be out of your control.

But again, you clearly will vote.

The VBM is nice too because campaigns have weeks to chase down votes instead of a few hours on election day.

Yup. Talked to a 70 year old woman this week at work. She told me she's an R voting for Biden. I told her I can't talk about elections, but she kept telling me about how she can't believe some people who are still drinking the kool aid.
