we were discussing putting a pergola or some other covering for our patio, but wanted the option of shade/no shade. So I found a company that makes a pergola that has louvers that open and close, sort of like blinds. No clue on price. Lots of marketing rigamarole, but they still won't say what it costs. Then one of their marketing emails said "a question everyone has is 'how can i finance my pergola'?". It goes on to say with their financing, 'That means most can get a brand new pergola installed for less than a new car payment.'

lol

our patio is about 10 feet away from the house and about 15 feet wide, so that would have to be one HUGE awning

no, it was almost like a movie projector shade connected on the one end and took like two people with sticks to roll it out and latch it on the other end. lol, it wasn't pretty but it worked. see if i could find something online that looks similar. that's where he said he got the idea.

there's some nice diy on youtube. i think my friend used a retractable pool cover for his. i'll see if i can get in touch with him and ask. dude's got a ghettofabulous back yard and pool.

something coming from lebanon via fedex smartpost. shipped today, delivery...tuesday. 6 days later. a 23hr 47min walk as per google.

and another oddity: i clicked 'directions', getting ready to find the icon to select walking instead of driving. and the directions automatically came up walking. Like it read my mind.

this is gonna be fund to track the inefficiencies here. Went from Lebanon PA (actually Middleton) to Keasbey NJ last night. Keasbey is up around Newark. I wonder if it passed my house on the turnpike!

Fedex is such crap.

That's basically the model--all packages go to a central location where they are sorted and shipped out.

I was gonna disclaim that that makes sense for air shipments, but not ground. In fact, fedex has even strayed from their all-air=packages-go-through-memphis model in recent years too.

I now read that there are 25 US smartpost hubs. I guess that's the closest. shrug.

oh, and that article also tells me that there are 11 air hubs now in addition to the memphis super hub.
