Not really interested in not paying taxes only to have to pay them in a few months.

The unemployment thing is a nice con job too and pretty smart politically. When people in states like NY, NJ, MI, PA, IL, etc. are not able to get the benefits, Trump can just blame the Democratic governors there.

WaPo did its final handicapping of the veepstakes.

No surprises - top favorites are Kamala and Rice. Curiously, it has Warren in 3rd place. I think it's not real, just a nod to the BernieBros.

Anyhow, one nice quote on Karen Bass:

Fair or not, a basic rule of politics is: If you’re explaining, you’re losing. If you’re explaining that you’re not a communist, you’re really losing.

Rice’s experience navigating Ebola as Barack Obama’s national security adviser is surely weighing on Biden. One can see Biden’s veep being tasked with the lead on coronavirus so Biden could focus on the economic crisis and staffing up the executive branch. Rice’s experience with pandemics would enable her to reassure the country in this role. And don’t overlook that Rice would likely shred Vice President Pence on the pandemic in the VP debate. Indicting Trump’s virus task force chief before the nation would double as a big takedown of Trump’s disastrous handling of the single biggest issue in this race.

Catch Larry Kudlow talking with Dana Bash about the math of trumps EO, it’s crazy. He just starts throwing out numbers and waving his hands, especially when they point out that the states have to pay 25% of the benefit, and it has to get through the state legislature.

Imagine picking a VP for a virus that most likely won't exist during for at least 3/4s of his first term.

Imagine reducing the reasons for considering Susan Rice to pandemic policy experience.

This is my guess as the pick. I think Rice hits all the buttons. Harris to clean up DoJ. Warren as HHS director or something economic corruption related.

There's a lot of wrk to do fixing what Trump has done. I don't know how you get rid of entrenched toadies that will actively be undermining Biden's administration if they aren't eliminated. Ad then there's the loss of institutional knowledge.

Typically all political appointees are relieved of their duties by the new administration, so I would not worry much about Trump toadies sticking around to gum up the works.

LOL, that schlep Peter Navarro got eaten by Chuck Todd. Todd runs over him with things being "legally dubious" especially since the EOs do not actually use any legally enforceable language. "Shall consider" to Navarro mean 'you damn well better do it'. When asked about the optics of Trump not participating in the discussion, but signing flimsy edicts from his private club surrounded by rich folks allowed on the property, Navarro gets a little melty and says that Trump works 24/7 and is the hardest working president in history (get the Lincoln project editor ready for some light work).

"The Lord and the Founding Fathers created executive orders" ... WHAT? Navarro also said that Trump could have just left it keep going, but e took action.

Todd even got Navarro to react to Trumps inability to win a negotiation despite his self proclamation that he is the worlds best negotiator.

Wow, Chuck Todd dropping the hammer. How weak is your position if the nicest guy in DC has you on the run?

I thought Todd looked absolutely horrible. He stumbled through it. Did not question Navarro on the insane notion that God created executive orders. Was really really bad and someone else should have his job.

I mean Navarro said "Democrats are not passing COVID relief because they want the economy to sink." Democrats passed a hill months ago and and Chuck Todd said "I take your point." Guy is a joke.

I'm not talking about political appointees. There have been several reports of departments being gutted. They don't want government and have spent a lot of their time making sure it won't work after they leave.

In a 2018 interview, Noem says that Trump told her that it was a “dream” of his to be carved into the mountain.

Noem told South Dakota’s Argus Leader that during a White House visit, Trump said to her: “‘Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand.'” The governor continued, “I shook his hand, and I said, ‘Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime. We have Mount Rushmore.’ And he goes, ‘Do you know it’s my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?’ I started laughing. He wasn’t laughing, so he was totally serious.”

So the media is all up in a tizzy about Dumpster wanting is face on Mount Rushmore, but it is shocking old news.

I'm really not going to be satisfied with just Trump's defeat in November. I want him either in prison or in Russian exile.

It is hard to pick just one transgression as the worst. Although it is a minor infraction, making Bedminster look like an official government facility has really gotten my blood boiling. I get that it is part of the long con to sell his properties as something more then they are, but it is just some vile to pretend that he is working all time time, when he is so frequently luxuriating at his leveraged properties, which is different from punching the clock to tweet. Its just galling, not the most heinous thing he has done, and probably not even in the top 500, just the latest.

The Trump admin really has exposed how totally useless the American media is. Jonathan Swan held him more accountable in one interview than our entire domestic political media has done in five years.

I wouldn't say that's an absolute. He does very few sit downs outside of his fanboy network. But what happened Saturday in Bedminster has been oft repeated- someone calls him out on lies, and he just walks off.
