So the DNC released the speakers for the convention and has the "VP nominee" on Wednesday but Harris is named as a speaker before Biden on Thursday. Could just be a misdirection I suppose.

Having Kasich speak is a good choice in my opinion. Biden won the primaries by promising to bring back normal politics. I think even more now, that message will resonate with lots of voters.

I think the Biden campaign can and should do other things to make sure "progressives" stay on board.
