I'm concerned this will generate some energy for Trump supporters. It's not just about who people will vote for. Get out the vote efforts depend a lot on energy and volunteers. This should help both of those things for the GOP. Hopefully it will peel off enough enough disgusted NRA supporters to even that out.
I do think it's possible this will tie back to Trump. Remember that russian spy woman who was in bed (literally) will some GOP folks and it was all tied to the NRA. There was a lot of russian money coming through there and then indirectly into Trump's coffers.
I believe it was the NY office of some agency that was behind much of the anti-hillary stuff right before the election. Maybe that's going to happen again, except in favor of the dems this time.
I've had this argument with a friend who takes a similar viewpoint, and I kinda take the view that you're just playing whack-a-mole if you're trying to avoid doing anything that will inflame the GOP base. No matter what you do, the Republican machine will find a way to drum up some random occurrence as a wedge issue that's proof of whatever they're selling. Some local city council passing a bill saying you can't bring assault rifles to a kindergarten center will become a national cause for anarchy. If the Democrats who are empowered to make real changes don't do it because they're afraid Republicans will be mad about it, what's the point of all this?

From what I understand banning use of WeChat (Tencent platform) would completely shut down the ability of multinational corps to do business in China - it is used not only for payment processing but basically as the only permitted text/email option
Crazy stuff and a significant escalation. Going to ruin so many lawyers lives with this if they have big multinational clients
