Need to change precanvaasing rules. Originally counties weren't allowed to start counting mail in until 8 pm on election day. That was moved to 7 am. They need to be able to start a week or more before. Even a single day would be helpful. A lot of states count as the votes are received. There seems to be bipartisan support for changing it so we will see.

The psychology studies of criticism, and the most effective ways to criticize, suggest that criticisms of people for their intrinsic nature is not likely to raise the perception of the criticizer. I'm on my phone, and this is based on recollection. I don't see how saying "Many of my opponents are terrible people" is an effective communication strategy for any politician.

Basically, don't use this language because it's not effective. It makes one look bad. And Hillary Clinton got raked over the coals for nearly an identical observation.

trump's approval ratings are about the lowest they've been in almost six monthes, validating to my mind the policy of just letting Trump be Trump is the best way to turn off voters from him.

And anecdotally, it’s working. In the primary had a lot of people who showed up to just vote for him in the republican primary. A lot of others who were registered nonpartisan came and wanted a Republican ballot to vote for him. Can’t say it’s the same everywhere, there are definitely people who are fired up for him.

I don't think he's playing political chess or anything, he's just hoping for a repeat of 2016. The plan as of 1/1/2020 was a booming economy and an easy walk to reelection. Probably a combination, IMO. It has to be mentally exhausting trying to keep up with someone whose brain is full of mush.
