A big part of countries squashing it is good leadership, another big part is citizens that listen and follow directions and are willing to give up some things many Americans won't.

other than new zealand... some countries have fared much better, but even those countries i would say are far from what you would consider squashing it. better contained, yes. threat over or over with minimal restrictions... not seeing it yet.

NJ done for the year.

PA has been done, though. That's why it's so stupid

Yeah NJ has been out for 7 or 8 weeks but they announced today that they'll remain closed until September.

Been waiting for something like this (or just couldn't find them). They're showing we have a bit to go. Most of PA has hit a fairly steady state or very gradual decline. Hopefully the decreases start to steepen...I'm not sure how likely that is though. And I mean that honestly...I have no idea. I guess the hope would be that as distancing works more and more, R continues to fall.

Their goal isn't to truly reopen, it's to try to push cyber charters for next fall.

Without taking out the nursing home data when does the state actually believe philly and the surrounding counties will meet the required yellow phase numbers? Summer 2022?

The conversation around removing these number is a bit disingenuous.

-People in these facilities matter

-The workers here still do not have enough PPE

-In a vast majority of cases it was workers and staff who brought the virus into the facility in the first place.

-When we re-open, these workers will continue to come and go from these facilities. Do we just tell them to self isolate? They are already under paid and there are already not enough of them.

i've seen way too many people wearing scrubs going out and about in public with no face covering, and i don't see them with hand sanitizer. i doubt these are hospital employees, but rather those working in these long term care facilities. if you have an essential job, it's not only essential to wear ppe while working, but it's also essential when you're not. these include those working in grocery stores, delivery drivers, and obviously those in the health profession.

I know of a Berk County employer who let their people know Friday that work from home is over. They positioned it as WFH is not voluntary, making it a policy situation which forces employees to Short Term Disability or FMLA if they choose not to retun. It also also pins open the door for terminations if they need to cull the herd.

They are not interested in doctor's notes as they have an in house nurse who employees are to call and the nurse will arbitrate. I think that there is a legal issue with that line of attack as an individuals care giver has knowledge about what is best for their patient over someone the company hires to answer the phone. While I'd hate to suggest that the tele-nurse is a company schill, I would put money on it that PHI will not be protected.

As a side note, they have had limited staffing in production where they had 2 or 3 positive cases. Their office staff (designers, admin, sales, etc.) has been working from home for about 6 weeks already, and seem to be the target of the recall.

Past that, this is not an essential business so are there any remedies in PA for businesses opening against the stay at home order? In this case I am literally asking for a friend.

Forgive me for tooting my own horn, but my company's website was rated as "pro-science" and "highly factual" for COVID-19 coverage.

If they're not essential, they're not allowed to have employees come in unless they have a waiver from the state...which you can't get anymore. This would be no different than a restaurant just choosing to open to the public and forcing wait staff to come in.

PA has updated the guidance to align with this: https://www.pa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2 ... 8c-004.pdf

Is it a big employer? If that were me I'd probably contact a local authority as I believe what they're doing would be illegal.

I don't know how many employees they have. I've not lived there since I was a teenager. it is a business that existed when I was a kid, so I view it as a historical employer therefore mentally associated with having a decent number of employees. Sometime in the last decade it was purchased by larger specialty manufacturer and kept as a regional manufacturing and design arm as well as trading on its good name.

New internal projections from the Trump administration suggest U.S. deaths will grow on a daily basis to 3,000 by the beginning of June, weeks after states have begun reopening their economies.

The startling figures from models produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) come as more and more states take steps to remove social distancing measures meant to slow the spread of the COVID-19 disease.
