I don't think anyone has disputed this, have they? There's an extremely high likelihood the recovered develop some level of immunity for some period of time. Unless I missed news along the line we have zero proven details on it.

The WHO released a typically confusing statement saying we don't "know" about immunity. I think they were trying to emphasize we can't just assume we are safe based on having a positive serological test.

Good news but a deceiving headline, imo.

A total of 277 patients in the country were believed to have fallen ill for a second time, as had patients in China and Japan.

This prompted concerns that the virus could be mutating so quickly that people were not necessarily immune to catching it again.

However, genetic analyses of the virus have not found any substantial changes which would effectively disguise it from the immune system.

The only conclusion is about mutation rate of the virus. Nothing about actual immune response.

So my clock is a minute fast. tbf, 29 minutes is far longer than my usual standard.

One of my cousins tested positive for it overnight after being hospitalized. She and her mom caught it from a visiting friend that "wasn't sick"

Did the friend end up showing symptoms?

It definitely was a very poor statement.

The question I have, which I haven't researched at all, is how viral load affects immunity. We've mostly tested severe to moderate cases, especially in the U.S. So I'm assuming those cases generally suffered a higher viral load. Does that lead to a more significant immunity? Would a smaller viral load diminish strength or length of immunity?

I fucking hate the whole "blame", "find out where it started" thing. They do this all the time. Why does it matter? The response was still shitty. Actually, even worse if it was created in a lab because then our intelligence community should have either known about it even earlier or they suck, too.

Well finding out how it started goes a long way to preventing it from happening again.

It's only blame shifting. If they can have a tangible 'enemy' to point at (China) then they can draw some fire to them rather than their miserable response to the pandemic.

The ironic part is that the only morons that go along are the ones already absolving the administration so it does nothing.

South Korea and the United States both had their first case on January 20th, 2020.

Of course. That is not the usage of the origin story that I am talking about though.

i doubt the administration GAFF about the origin. they only use it to cast blame. in fact, they probably don't WANT to know lest the conclusion be counter to their blame game. As long as it's unknown it allows for speculation

I don't think this is true. They didn't know if there was sustained transmission
