Politics: Y'all ready for this?

I really like Warren. She was far and away my first choice of the democratic candidates and 100% would have voted for her in the primary. I’ve seen stuff criticizing her for going hard at Bloomberg in the debate, I loved it. Bloomberg was obviously cannon fodder, but she dismantled him and it left me wanting to see her do that to Trump. I don’t think Biden is capable of that and I don’t think Bernie would be as effective doing it.

Personally, I liked her and thought that because she wasn’t some carnival barker, it would serve as a genuine appeal for this election, but I was wrong.

Saw this today as well. It's good.

Competence =/= charisma, though.

This country has made it clear the latter matters (a lot) when it comes to who they vote for.

I strongly dislike Elizabeth Warren and am glad she is not going to be the next president of the United States. She would have been a really bad general election candidate for non-sexism or maybe sexism adjacent reasons (I continue to think Klobuchar was the most electable Dem in the race, maybe Booker). In that respect, I think the Dems are dodging a bullet, whether the nominee is Biden or Bernie (if winning is sole concern). Taking electoral stuff out of the mix, a large part of why I dislike her is I think she would have been a pretty effective president at accomplishing her agenda (especially compared to Bernie, who I dislike for other reasons), and I very much dislike her agenda. I think if I was me, but left of center, she would have been my candidate.

I will say it gives me tremendous satisfaction that she flopped so badly in some part to not hiring a pollster. You read the Politico post-mortem on her campaign where her people complain about not being able to talk to non-white voters and the messaging failures around their healthcare plan. You know what could have helped that? Fucking testing messaging among Hispanics in Nevada and black voters in South Carolina, and testing different frames of your healthcare plan to hone what to emphasize prior to releasing it so you didn't have to do it twice in reaction to blowback.

I think Biden just getting one break and then just dominating everyone shows how fucking disconnected the average young Dem political staffer and progressive Twitter is from the Democratic electorate. Maybe it would have been useful for someone with gobs of money and a real chance of being the next president of the United States to have regularly and systematically asked the people whom she wanted to vote for her what they thought and how they reacted to her proposals. You don't reinvent yourself based on the polling, but maybe learn better words to use (or sometimes more importantly, not use) when talking about your agenda. And you can find things to emphasize to break through with different audiences. It's not rocket science.

She was authentic and had a plan for everything. And finished in 3rd place in her own home state and worse most other places despite adoration from the press and every other group overrepresented in political commentary (including here). Congrats, and good riddance.

I agree with pretty much all that except you can drop the "maybe" before "sexism". All the stuff you hit her with was exponentially worse because she was a female candidate and thus had a way higher bar to clear to begin with. She could have polled the hell out of everyplace (would have been smart, I agree) and those voters still would have balked in favor of Bernie enthusiasm or Biden experience. The latter of which was probably going to carry the day regardless...all of Twitter is far from the electorate, that's for sure.

At this point, Bernie needs a big win in Washington and Michigan or it is a death knell. There aren't many other favorable big state opportunities for him, and Biden is getting a 150-200+ delegate margin (probably more) out of MS-FL-GA-LA.

You LOL, but Northern Ireland is going to be a tricky location due to Brexit. No doubt he was sent there to make sure Ireland doesn't decide to reunite. Putin would hate that.

I thought the same thing. But I don't think it would have ever happened. No way Trump gets on the stage to debate a competent woman. I'm not even sure he'd debate Sanders. Biden he will debate and try to fluster, probably by saying something awful about Biden's tragedies.

What would happen in those southern states, especially Georgia, if he announced Abrams as his running mate. I don't know that she'd accept, but I wonder what would happen if she did.

She’s too smart for that. She will only accept a sure thing I think, and good for her.

If you see clips of Lindy Li on Al Jazeera or Charlie Kirk's show know that she is a grifter. AOC even tweeted about her, which is playing into exactly what she wants. She is a rich, Asian woman. Former treasurer of the PA Young Democrats and ran for Congress last cycle. Her attention grabbing thing now is she's a Biden delegate that will never vote for Sanders because some family fled communist China. It's awful. These people interviewing her don't know how much of a joke she is locally and how desperate she is for attention. She has no job and lives off her father's fortune. The Biden campaign needs to dump her because she is very much blurring the line between her selfish, destructive motives and speaking for Joe Biden and his campaign.

”If you’re going to cough, please leave the room,” Trump chided him in a caught-on-camera scolding. “You just can’t, you just can’t cough. Boy oh boy. Okay, do you want to do that a little differently … ”

If polling is at all accurate there's a real chance Bernie's not even viable in Florida and (to a lesser chance) Georgia.

Saw pictures of Trump wearing his campaign hat while visiting the tornado damage and the CDC. I guess all official business is a campaign event now.
