Warren is doing herself and her party and women in general no favor by crying that she lost because of sexist Democrats.

Democrats genuinely want a woman president - for all the good reasons and also for historical bragging rights.

They had some good candidates for that - Harris and Klobuchar. Warren was dearly beloved by the not-Bernie progressives, but that isn't a big enough coalition.

Dems will make a little history by having the first elected woman VP, so so many years after Geraldine Ferraro knocked on that door.

Joe Biden was nobody's first choice, but he's an adequate placeholder. His VP should be someone Americans want to be president too.

If only candidates could figure out how to get as good press before they leave the race as they do after they leave, politics would be transformed forever.

I am not sure just how far down the "sexism" road Warren went (i.e. I have not seen/heard her full comments) but I am beyond tired of "rejection"/"non-selection" (in all aspects of life, not just politics) being about race or sex. Related to the presidential contest, we have been hearing the gnashing of teeth for a few months now about how the supposed party of diversity was all white (save to Andrew Yang) and now that is it all male. Surely there are people who rejected Warren, Klobuchar, Booker, Harris, Yang, etc. because they were either female or non-white but those relative handful of people make up a tiny portion of those who simply did not like the candidate. Are people's egos so fragile that it HAS to be race or sex because they are so perfect in every other way?

The problem is that it is not a binary issue, and a candidate rarely blames it solely on the "identity" issue. People, however, take any obvious critique of the system and make it seem like a candidate is only playing the card. Warren said it perfectly after officially dropping out "Gender in this race, you know, that is the trap question for every woman. If you say, 'yeah, there was sexism in this race,' everyone says 'whiner,' And if you say, 'no, there was no sexism,' about a bazillion women think, 'what planet do you live on?''

To think that people saying that sexism or racism may have hurt a campaign to some extent doesn't mean it "HAS to be race or sex." And to think that it had no effect at all in either coverage or appeal is just naive.

Once the press no longer needs to tear you down they can build you up. And I do not mean that as a hostile statement to the press, it is their job (to an extent) to aggressively vet a candidate. There are times where coverage seems to go too far or is skewed too unfairly, but I am not unbiased or intelligent enough to call balls and strikes here.

Also, the 538 Primary Model is live again after adjusting for Super Tuesday. Joe Biden is an 87% chance to win a majority of pledged delegates, followed by no majority at 10%, and Bernie and 2%. Sanders will need to come out with a big win in Michigan, but that seems unlikely with Joementum and the endorsements he received there. Also, a poll out of Washington from SurveyUSA had Biden +1... I think the pre-Super Tuesday voting may be enough to keep Bernie afloat there... but losing Washington and Michigan would be a death knell.

I saw a trump trying to pull off the Obama no tie look. It was on some TV that was muted, but that dude can’t pull it off. And the open collar white shirt on the orange painted head looks horrendous.

Came here to post that. Disgusting.

"The idea that I wouldn't stand up for these athletes is ridiculous," Jordan said. "I feel sorry for these guys, the fact that they aren't telling the truth. I mean these are guys I trained with, these are guys I worked out with, I ran with, wrestled with, and the idea that now they are saying what they are, it's just not true."

Everyone else is just about done from Tuesday, and California is at about 60%.

In about as non trolling of a stance as I can take, I think an important part of democratic responsiveness is being able to tell the people who voted relatively quickly after the election what the result was (barring like a 0.1% margin). This seems particularly important in a sequential primary. Obviously the margin is large enough that Bernie has won, but whether he wins by 5% or 10% or 15% has a massive impact on the viability of the entire Democratic campaign. And it's like, eh, maybe we'll know sometime next week.

In the general election, the state where this could be a huge issue is Arizona. Which is obviously run by Republicans, so it's not a partisan thing.

I just don't fucking get setting up or advocating for a system like this. Unless the election is well inside a point, you should be able to know who won it when you're having your morning coffee the next day. Or at least maybe by the time you hit happy hour on Friday?

Imagine how many ballots they just received today.

On January 23, 2020, her net favorability rating was +49, only behind Bernie Sanders per 538.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/th ... -4-charts/

For a more recent poll, the Morning Consult had her at 61% favorable and 26% unfavorable.

https://morningconsult.com/2020-democratic-primary/

It is one thing to say her campaign never took off for a variety of reasons, it's another thing to say that it was her personality. It sounds ignorant at best, sexist at worst... and I think you're neither of those things.

I don't see how it's either ignorant or sexist. To me the favorability ratings prove the point. It indicates people approve of her record and policy ideas yet still didn't vote for her.

Still it's a leap to say that a hypothetical Chuck Warren with the same policies and same personality would be in the same boat. Chuck might have been called "forceful" where Elizabeth was called "strident", "authoritative" instead of "condescending", and so on.

An article on Elizabeth Warren from the sexist, ignorant Atlantic.

Personally, I liked her and thought that because she wasn’t some carnival barker, it would serve as a genuine appeal for this election, but I was wrong.
