But what is it about centrism or the last 20 or 30 years that gives you comfort here? There's the fear of the unknown, I guess, but I'm pretty worried about the world my kids will navigate 15 years from now.

Hell I'd be pretty worried if they were 17.

If you view conservatism primarily as a block on upward mobility, it would also serve as a means of saving your kids from the possibility of downward mobility and a drop in quality of life from where they’re at now.

From an environmental perspective, I have no answer for you. Something significant needs to be done, almost regardless of the cost. ]

But from most perspectives, I don't think there is any question that generally the U.S.is a better place than it was 20, 40, 60, 80 years ago.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

I'm put off by this notion that w/o Bernie youth will stay home on election day. Sort of a bro argument.

I’ve seen conflicting stuff and none of it seems super credible. Some things say 13% of young voters came out for the primaries. Some things say 13% of voters in the primaries were young. Those two things are very different from each other and I’m not even sure if either one is remotely accurate.

JH may be able to give us actual data. Or maybe anyone who isn’t me and isn’t too lazy to find a credible source.

I'm not worried. My daughter is 27.

I do worry that our democracy, our nation, is threatened by how Trump and his criminal team have simply ignored the law. I do hope that centrism can restore the kind of government - from FRD to Ike to LBJ to Reagan to Bush to Clinton and Obama - that existed as the quality of life for Americans increased.

Trent Steele is right that progressive ideas move forward regardless of who's in power. I was a kid 50 years ago, and we (and the adults) openly mocked people who weren't white, Christian, and hetero. The progress in my lifetime doesn't end with Trump even though it's certainly been a setback.

Growing income inequality is a problem, but the nation has met that issue before and responded. I'm not counting on the largesse of them that has, but history is a useful precedent.

There will be terrible times of war, of economic downturns, and pandemics made worse by idiots in denial. As it's always been.

Dr. Fauci said that the coronavirus is 10 times more deadly than the seasonal flu. Trump fears emergency declaration would contradict his coronavirus message that this is just no big deal and in a few days will be gone. maybe that magic mystery pill he talked about at his last rally is ready, or maybe it’s a hallucinogenic and Don has already taken his.

Never surrender Don, just never fucking surrender, God knows you should’ve been a doctor because you know so much you dumb fucker.

Myself, I am more liberal than I was 10 years ago, and certainly 20 years ago.

I'm sure there's many individuals who are the same as you. Overall I think it's the exception not the rule.

All I'm saying is if the 60s counter-culture participated in electing Reagan (TWICE!) can we really expect anything different now?

Seriously, tho, the most liberal constituency will always be under 30 and is repeatedly replaced by the next under 30 group.

Trent hit it pretty close but I don't think having kids is the cause.

Depends on what we're considering young voters.

Last I looked (think it was after super Tuesday) the 18-29 was about 15% of the vote not that 15% of eligible 18-28 year olds voted.

On super Tuesday I posted: 2 to 1 tonight for 45+ to under 45. The population totals are similar for those groups.
