This is a typo, right? 383,000 gallons and the damage was limited a half-acre??

A leak in the Keystone pipeline system spilled about 383,000 gallons of crude oil in North Dakota, covering an estimated half-acre of wetland, state environmental regulators said. The spill has been contained.

the spill would be ~2.3 feet deep over that 1/2 acre. do they dig trenches under the pipeline for spill containment? If so this seems reasonable.

i was dubious too, until i did the math.

the spill area is 15 ft x 1500 ft = 22,500 sq ft

i gallon = 7.43 cubic feet

383,000 / 7.43 = 51547 cubic feet

51547 / 22,500 = 2.27

He's going to pardon himself for all federal crimes, leaving only NY state crimes. He figures DeSantis won't extradite him.

The GOP is almost always wrong on social issues, but I remained a Republican from 1981 until 2016 because I felt that social issues move forward no matter who holds office. I voted on fiscal issues.

I believed then, and now, in low taxes and smaller government. Maybe it's always been a ruse to get "low taxes for billionaires" and it's just more obvious under Trump.

I believed then, and now, in open trade. That has been a GOP issue, even though Bill Clinton co-opted it with NAFTA and got it done with a GOP congress. I still recall my glee in seeing Al Gore destroy Ross Perot in a televised NAFTA debate. You don't create American jobs by killing trade. Trump is completely against free trade, and somehow Hillary is the one who got it right (even though she couldn't say it too loudly).

I believed then, and now, in government policies that encourage self-sufficiency over policies that encourage reliance on a government subsidy. I felt that the GOP was, in its heart, people like Evan McMullin, Nicole Wallace, Max Boot - people of principle. What Trump has done is reveal that 90% of Republicans are simply greedy racists, and I'm pretty sad about that, and no longer a Republican.

I can't envision a GOP that will ever have me as a member again, but I'd like to see a movement where fiscal conservatives align with social libruls, to reign in some of the excesses of the well-meaning but financially clueless Democrats. Libertarian is a nice ideal but that movement is polluted with dbags like Rand Paul.

I'm voting D for the foreseeable future.

kudos on that post it was interesting to read. i'll be the first to admit i don't believe that most trump voters can be flipped but you definitely prove the theory that their are moderate conservatives willing to vote democrat as long as the GOP resembles the NSDAP.

So Don wants to read the "transcript" so Americans can hear that there is 'no quid pro quo'. Aside from the facts that 1) its not a transcript per the document circulated, and 2) it seems that the line of defense is that there was not a literal, verbatim "quid pro quo" statement, I would have to think it would have a heavy element of editorializing in the rally mode he lives in. I cannot imagine what would have to happen for it to be legitimate. Split screen between summary and words with real time fact checking?

Portion of Trump Fireside Chat released:

...but in all of my years of public life, I have never profited, never profited from public service--I have earned every cent. And in all of my years of public life, I have never obstructed justice. And I think, too, that I could say that in my years of public life, that I welcome this kind of examination, because people have got to know whether or not their President is a crook. Well, I am not a crook. I have earned everything I have got.
