are you supposed to leave those little cardboard strips in dress shirt collars? I just bought a new shirt and pulled them out. Now I see they included a little plastic bag with two extras of those, so I'm thinking they are useful.

Phillies have won three in a row, and their new acquisitions have started strong. All in all, I'd say a few ticks (especially since they weren't on me but maybe I should have Mrs. Vulture check just to be sure) aren't such a big deal when we focus on what's important.

I'm pretty sure you don't keep those. What if you want to wear a tie? Now, collar stays, that's a whole nother thing. Those are usually plastic, unless you get fancy brass ones.

I chose to defer this question to an expert on the matter.

they are called the collar stays. I prefer to keep them in, however you must remove them prior to dry cleaning as they may damage both the collar and the stay

maybe it is plastic. like 2-1/2" long x 3/8" wide and pointy on one end.

Same. I still watch a lot of Phillies games but it’s mostly because they’re on and rather than channel surf to find something to put on before the kids go to bed I can put it on and then if I’m not watching something else that night it just stays on while I do other stuff like read or whatever. I don’t live and die with any of it much anymore, it’s just a fun distraction and if I start to get frustrated or annoyed, I just walk away. Too much other stuff in this world to get stressed about, men playing with balls isn’t one of them.

This is pretty close to where I am, though I surprised myself with how invested I suddenly became in the Eagles' Super Bowl run a year and a half ago, after watching essentially zero football until the second week of the playoffs. (Yeah, yeah, bandwagon fan, whatever)

I started watching Phillies games semi-regularly this season for the first time in about four years, since I cut cable. Yet when I have the game on, I'm only half watching it, and if I find in the evening that I missed the game earlier in the day, I'm rarely bothered. I expect that if (when) the Phillies make the playoffs I'll get more involved but probably will never come to live and die with them like I did a decade ago.
