Right, that's what I mean. That's a lot! I wouldn't be surprised if at least one relates to his business!

Basically, the only things that weren't true were the jokes about Trump and Putin being in on it together (Trump just like fellow autocrats), us thinking Don Nr was orchestrating something illegal when really it was that he was too stupid to know he was breaking the law, and some of the more resistancy "it's all a conspiracy and they're all puppets of Putin" stuff.

Wasn't this more than just like resistance-y side of things? This was sort of the main crux for almost anyone anti-Trump, right? Maddow was even saying this stuff.

I do believe that is correct, however. I think by definition a puppet is doing thing involuntarily- i.e. they're too stupid to realize that they were being manipulated.

No, that was not the Crux of most anti-Trump people.

He obviously obstructed justice. His campaign sought foreign help. I'm talking about the people with big boards with strings everywhere.

Lots and lots of reporting has been corroborated with this report, and things that were farmed out are still secret. Lots of financial crimes will be revealed eventually.

On the federal level it's a big deal, especially if she wants to get into leadership or the senate. It's also cool that I helped clinch it.

Someone with access to this report needs to release it for the good of the country and take whatever punishment comes from it. It's a domestic version of the Pentagon Papers.

To quote Justice Potter Stewart in the case between the Government and the Wash Post/NY Times

“In the absence of the governmental checks and balances present in other areas of our national life, the only effective restraint upon executive policy and power in the areas of national defense and international affairs may lie in an enlightened citizenry—in an informed and critical public opinion which alone can here protect the values of democratic government.”

So who is the good American amongst this riff raff? Who is today's Daniel Ellsberg.

I'm not sure how actually widespread it was in the real world, or whether gleeful insinuations were just to difficult to resist whether you thought there was actual cooperation or not.

Always drove me crazy though that the one thing that always seemed true and has actually been proven emphatically true, that Russia wanted Trump to be elected, never really seemed to rise to the point of actually being an issue. It really seemed to get lost in both the campaign and following that our main adversarial superpower really wanted this guy installed, and that maybe we should examine why this is so rather than yammering away about a dream of him being led away in handcuffs. But that would require some substantive examination of foreign policy rather than 11 person panel discussions of "what does this mean for whether people will think so and so is a swell/ foul girl or guy, and apparently that's not what people want.

I don't know if he was working with Putin directly or not leading up to the election, but let's not forget that Mueller is only going to report things he can prove pretty conclusively. There was a lot of foreign intelligence chatter that something was going on and some of that can't be used without giving away sources. There's also the fact that Trump and Putin meet in private whenever possible. Sharing family secret recipes for spaghetti sauce? I doubt it is innocent. And working together doesn't have to happen directly. Someone might use a, you know, backchannel for something like that.

anyway, I think it's probably significantly worse than even the unredacted Mueller report will show because not everything can be proven and some things can't be divulged without outing spies.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
...agreed to testify, it was not necessary for me to respond to statements made in the “Report” about me, some of which are total bullshit & only given to make the other person look good (or me to look bad). This was an Illegally Started Hoax that never should have happened, a...

fyi in my unscientific anecdotal observations this has not moved the needle one iota other than people become more steeled in their prior beliefs in both directions.

We'll wait for the polling. Bet there's a slight dip in favorability but nothing serious.

Based on its website, Fox is as much as possible burying this. Much of its "reporting" is commentary from Trump allies like Ken Starr.
