“Hillary wanted to put up wind. Wind!” Trump said, referring to the energy policies of his 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton. “If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer. You tell me that one, okay?”

He imitated the blades of a wind turbine turning.

“And of course, it’s like a graveyard for birds,” he added. “If you love birds, you’d never want to walk under a windmill.”

What was the audience there? I mean after watching that it looks like it was part of some stand-up set and that was the comedy portion of things.

I think it was from the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner. Separately, anybody catch the Biden video yet?

I love Joe.

He's done nothing wrong here in terms of his handsiness.

But he is a dinosaur.

I'm old, and I had a bunch of aunts and uncles - "old world" types - who hugged and kissed everybody. Joe is not creepy, he's just old Uncle Joe from another era.

I'm old. I'm old enough that I understand Uncle Joe. He'd make me squirm a little too, but I know he is harmless and means well with all the up close stuff.

But today's young'uns have been taught that it's never OK to touch another person unless you've negotiated extensively first.

When we (properly) drew lines about inappropriate touching, we also swept out the innocent, the loving, the useful touching. The humanity.

To them, Joe is a creeper. No amount of logic will change that perception.

If we're waiting for a Democratic candidate who appeals to the full spectrum of the left it's never gonna happen.

Any chance Trump's dad is actually red skull, and he is a sleeper agent? He seems pretty bought in on his father being born in Germany.

There's no reason, as a man with a position of power, to feel the need to grab a woman and smell her hair. it's just beyond creepy. That's only one account. We're not talking about simply hugging people here.

I’m old, too.

All through my life people have touched me and I’ve touched others in friendly, non-sexual ways. I’ve been held and hugged and have held and hugged others. I’ve put my arm around someone’s shoulders or held someone’s hand and have had those things done to me. There were times when I was hugged or touched in some manner which might have made me a bit uncomfortable and I’m sure there were times when it felt awkward for others, too.

But I can’t adequately express how much better, warmer and more fulfilling life is when the default attitude is that human touch is welcomed. If it’s unwelcome in a particular circumstance then something can be said or we can walk away. But I’m very, very glad I’ve spent my life being open to the possibility of the goodness, warmth and love of the human touch — even from strangers — than being constantly on my guard against it.

I don’t expect everyone to understand and agree and, frankly, I couldn’t care less. I’ve been blessed to have lived a life filled to this day with warm human emotional and physical interaction. I literally wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Very well put, even though I'm the opposite way. I was raised in a family and environment with very little physical contact and I've had to struggle to try to incorporate it into my life and to welcome it from others. I still virtually never initiate contact but of course have friends and others that are used to welcoming with a hug or other contact. My preference is still mostly to refrain, but I'm not going to turn someone away and make them feel uncomfortable when it's offered in a spirit of making me feel welcome, or comforted or otherwise in a positive manner, which it always is. No huge Biden fan myself, but until I hear of some actual inappropriate behavior or taking advantage of someone it really doesn't color my judgment. to my knowledge even those most bothered by the conduct (and yeah, I would have been one of those) hasn't questioned intent.

idk. we're talking different things here. hugging friends is different then going up behind someone you don't know, grabbing their shoulders, and smelling their hair. she wasn't offered the opportunity of letting him do it or not. just pretty creepy. I don't think anyone that is creeped out by this is saying he's a molester, just "stop touching people"

The Biden stuff is so weird. He was vice president of the United States for 8 years and just did this shit on camera. I'm *sure* I have posts here making fun of Biden for being creepy. But I don't remember a single Democrat voter giving a shit about it back then, and not at all sure how much anyone should care about this regarding his fitness to be president. I mean, people take their own things into consideration, and in primaries small things can be differentiators, but the gnashing of teeth over this is a bit much.

I find myself, inexplicably, kind of wanting Joe Biden to be the next President of the United States. I'm quite sure if you told 2012 me that the guy who said the Romney/Ryan ticket was going to put black people back in chains if they won was a better choice than the incumbent Republican I'd really have some interesting theories about the drugs you or the incumbent Republican president were on.
