Fucking knew this would happen. It's the in school program I used to run. It was funded nearly exclusively by federal dollars from the Dept of Education. Incredible.

I mean, the president's budget is ignored as a matter of practice and there's a 0% chance any of those cuts will actually happen.

They're so incompetent that they can't even put together a budget doc that doesn't turn into a PR disaster.

Trump is guilty — of being unfit for office - George Conway

Decent read. Beyond that, the current prospects of someone serious challenging Trump in the primary are dimming, especially with the most serious outcomes from the Mueller Report off the table. Guess Hogan is still weighing it, but the challenge needs to come from someone who can get to Trump's right on some things.

I would genuinely enjoy George Conway primarying Trump more than words can express and would max out to his campaign. It would be great value.

Barr is just repeating history. He loves covering for corrupt republicans. It's not an accident he's in this position at this time. He's done this before. Wonder if the mainstream media will cover that angle. Maybe they are, but I doubt it.

Agree.

So wildly dumb. I have seen a significant amount of posts about it from facebook friends who never make political posts and are not connected to Special Olympics (some do have a sibling that has ID however).

the NRA is opposed to the Violence Against Women Act because it would bar people convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence or stalking from access to firearms.

well they sorta have a point. Don't get me wrong, I think the bar should be really high to obtain a gun, but a misdemeanor is a petty charge typically. They need to make those type charges automatic felonies is the way this needs to be fixed.

I doubt misdemeanor DV is really petty especially to the (probably) woman who has been a victim of it. If you're so abusive that you are charged and convicted of a crime that, I also assume, predisposes you to future violence, you probably shouldn't have access to a gun.

if you have been convicted of domestic violence or stalking, regardless of the level, you probably shouldn't have access to firearms.

I'd be interested in seeing the percentage of people charged with misdemeanor DV that go on to commit more severe acts of violence against women/children
