Nashville? The have like an operations center. 5000k jobs, yes, but the remaining 25K HQ2 jobs are theoretically still out there.

I posted over in the architecture thread that Crystal City is well positioned, but far from perfect for the influx of jobs to the area. It has an over subscribed metro leg, a commuter rail (VRE, which I think can scale), decent express busses that can scale, but not a whole lot of options for DC/MD residents yet. Adding the other 25K could be chaotic. Maybe Amazon expands it decent presence out by Dulles (good infrastructure, new metro line, some housing options, a shit ton of people commuting inward, but this is the very work force they were planning to cannibalized initially).

I sure as hell would not mind another city taking its half.

Amazon said they're not doing another campus and will spread those jobs throughout the country.

Which I read as ehh we didn't really need this place and it probably won't be 25k jobs anyway.

He interrupted Chuck Grassely who then called Mitch rude. Found the Jake Sherman tweet:

WOW.. McConnell interuppted grassley speech to announce the vote and national emergency. Grassley just SCREAMED at McConnell: “you’re rude. You’re just simply rude.” Said it would’ve taken 5 minutes for him to finish.

No, they would need to pass a veto proof joint resolution to override the declaration.

That won't happen so the constitutionality of the declaration will need to be contested.

The question I have is, while the case works its way up to the Supreme Court, will the declaration be permitted to take effect?

Staying the Senate Majority Leader until he dies. Guy reminds me a little of Robert Moses, although Moses at least did some good during his career.

Nat'l emergency will easily be the worst thing he's done imo. It will immediately go beyond "the wall", like the Patriot Act went beyond airport security. He basically becomes a dictator. Congress (ie Senate) has already shown they will stay on the sidelines. So we have to rely on a far-right court system.

If nothing else, Trump's reign of terror has highlighted the fact that Congress has yielded far too much power to the Executive Branch over the decades.
