I said it because way back when Trump said during the campaign that he'd punish women who get abortions, JH said he is tone deaf to the talking points of what pro-lifers say, but clearly there are those who do want to jail women for having an abortion

This is not one of the bills Ohio Right To Life has targeted for passage.

the fact that the bill was even proposed is beyond disgusting

Trump fucked over 30K people who entered public service jobs with the expectation of getting loan forgiveness after ten years

I don't think most evangelicals really have a problem jailing women who have abortions. And honestly, how do you really have a ban if you aren't going to enforce it against women who seek an abortion? Given that you can now have non-surgical abortions, self-administering medication is likely to be a common form of abortion, thus you'd have to punish women who do that or you really don't have a ban.

You also have to realize we're talking about state legislatures here. They do dumb and evil things all the time. I would not at all be surprised if some states don't try to limit access to forms of birth control they deem "abortifacients". It might not be just Roe v. Wade that's at risk here, but Griswold v. Connecticut.

For the record, I'm not remotely annoyed with jh, except that he continues to support his morally bankrupt party. He was snarky to me and I was snarky back. I really didn't think it was that bad compared to other things that have been said to him by others. It was just a little tit for tat.

I will hug pretty much anyone at any time (with consent, of course)

Holy crap. I considered staying in the US and working in the city for 10 years to get my loans paid for. That was 8 years ago. I would have had a heart attack if the rug was pulled out from under me that close to finishing.

16 signatories to the anti-Pelosi letter, one of whom is currently losing to Love so may not matter

If currently results hold, Pelosi can afford to lose 15 votes on the floor, so if all these people vote for someone else, everyone else would be the deciding vote to make Nancy Pelosi speaker

Seems like a good plan to me

That's all marketing, though. You weren't against Paul Ryan because Democrats disliked him, so I fail to see why Democrats should pick a leader to appease Republicans. It's such a weird, defeatist attack Democrats do to themselves, judging who should be their leader based off what their shitty uncle at Thanksgiving thinks.

I also wonder who the anti-Pelosi crowd would actually pick given the options and why, policy-wise, would they?

She's fine for now as a bridge Speaker. I can't imagine someone is changing their vote based off if Pelosi is leader or Marcia Fudge or Tim Ryan is, but we know policies we incubate and who will sit on committees will be different.

The head of the Education Dept decides how this gets implemented; the approval only started since DeVos has been in charge and ahead made it so almost no one qualifies.

It's death by paperwork and retroactive application of standards. Someone who cared would care about the spirit of the law and intent of the program and adjust various requirements as flaws have surfaced instead of doubling down on them.

The above was essentially based on DJT and SHS's comments on FNC, however since they created a snowflake snowstorm two sources conveniently told the outlet they were on that it ain't so...

Most of these are safe and to the right of their district and simply continue representing them because they won a primary or were decided by party bosses and the field was cleared for them several cycles ago
