Collins has also been looking on how to get to yes and Manchin is Manchin. I would think that Kavanaughs views on the ACA would be enough for a no, but it might not be.
A Collins speech is an odd move and one that probably means yes but I'm holding out a small amount of hope.

Very true. She did vote to end cloture on Devos but ended up voting no on nomination way back when so it’s not unprecedented.

But I'm guessing those include the majority of the votes where BOTH parties vote the same way (i.e. Proclamation Declaring February National Tiddlywinks Month). I don't know what the exact criteria should be, but maybe something along the lines of counting only those votes where more than 50% of each party voted differently....

No, party unity scores are calculated to exclude those kind of votes. Party unity scores are when you vote with the majority of your party, and against the majority of the other party.

McConnell has lunch with Collins and is now saying that he's feeling very optimistic about the vote

Sounding like Collins is a yes, as she is bashing special interests groups that oppose Kavanaugh.

Oh well...hopefully the blue tsunami closes off the chance of Trump getting another nominee on the bench and that perhaps Thomas retires, one way or the other, when a Dem is in the White House.

Crazy...I feel like I have been living an episode of Sliders ever since 11/2016.

The anger over Kavanaugh’s approval will last longer than the high felt in getting him through. I don’t know if it’ll be enough to get the senate, but it will be noticeable.

Yes, and this is going to cost Collins reelection in 2020. I guess she is planning on retiring?

As awful as this is, perhaps the alternative would have been far worse for Dems politically.
