Like a mighty pheonix, progressivism will rise again from the smoldering embers.

This assumes both parties will follow established norms for governance and decency. These people aren't conservatives, they're authoritarians. They want it all and they will break any rule, norm, or law they need to get it. Good luck getting anything back once they're entrenched.

Note that they have been blaming the Chinese over the past few weeks for meddling in our elections. They'll try to swing the spotlight from russia to China. There will be shenanigans in November and we won't be able to reverse it. Kavanaugh will make the executive branch immune to any investigation and that will be that.

Seriously, we need to start assuming the worse case scenario because it sure looks like that scenario is what best matches up with reality.

Grassley: Workload may keep women off committee

Just to note, there are 4 women on the committee already, just none of them are members of his party.

44% of the justices will have been nominated by a president who got less than 50% of the vote, with Kavanaugh joining the illegitimate trio of Gorsuch, Breyer and Ginsberg.

Perot's 19% begat Clinton. At least Clinton won the popular and electoral votes.

Kavanaugh is not a done deal. We could do the details, but lets wait until the Senate votes.

The mobs aren't the problem with voting, I'm sure they always do. It's everyone else.

Lisa Murkowski voting present is a complete cop out. No means No madame. Present makes you a bystander.

The bystander effect, or bystander apathy, is a social psychological phenomenon in which individuals are less likely to offer help to a victim when other people are present.

Nailed it Lisa. Culpable is another word she should learn.

Or she voted present because her colleague who would have voted yes cannot attend because of his daughter's wedding.

So the grand conspiracy I thought might be happening wasn’t happening, as the more rational part of my brain kept trying to tell me.

Let this be a lesson to all the conspiracy theorists out there: people aren’t that good at working together most of the time, even when they are theoretically on the same side.

In unrelated news I will be getting outspent 10:1 in the 29th or maybe more. My opponent is running on literally my agenda because she is an “independent” voice - or so say the daily mailers going out to homes in the area paid for by the state Republican Party.

But this was to be expected: she is their gal. Has literally worked for Republicans since she was 16, it is her only professional experience.

I have worked in the private sector dammit! And not just for AFT either - For PRUDENTIAL!

This is serious hardball with some blackmail, and intimidation, and many threats thrown in.

Unless the papers are wrong about Kavanaugh.

My point slugs is that present is effectively the same as abstaining. Abstaining is not a no. I don't give a s*** what her colleague is doing, that's his problem. So she certainly not voting no unless you can convince me that present means no. Then go ahead and convince vote counters that present means no as well.

When the guy I was originally running against first won the seat, at its creation in 2002, the state Republican party spent $300,000 to get him in.

$300,000 for a state house seat. In 2002.

Anyone have an application for getting on the George Soros payroll?
