Yeah, for me it is an incredibly stupid excuse because his sudden acknowledgment of their meddling does not match the rest of what he said (nearly all of which was about Hillary Clinton's emails and the server anyway).

What about the current state of America and about American history makes you dismissive of the idea of violence from Trump supporters?

During the 2016 campaign, Trump told his supporters that if he loses, the election was rigged and told them to commit violence against Clinton. What is he going to tell them if he does lose in 2020? If you find this outlandish, I suggest that five years ago, you might have found the possibility of President Donald Trump discrediting his own intelligence agencies and standing with Vladimir Putin in a joint press conference a bit outlandish. If you don't see the possibilities for awful violence here, I don't know what to tell you.
