Well, today’s shitshow prompted me to write my Congressman (Norcross) for the first time ever.

I missed this little shitshow today because of an all-day meeting and I am glad I did.

i guess he'd call that sanctimonious (though that's what the entire piece itself was). the idea that this lady felt aggrieved and turned to Trump because of the big, bad leftists making her is absurdly stupid. she chose to because she identifies with his aggrievement and likely felt 'welcomed' by Trumpies because they like opposing the left any way they can; if that means embracing her, so be it.

Of course, 'Russia' is a right-wing oligarchy that doesn't exactly resemble anything that he saw growing up. It's unclear to me why people continue to believe this way (Glenn Greenwald being chief among them). One can simultaneously think it's good if Russia and the US talk and hopefully diffuse issues while also bringing up that Russia interfered with our election, is a right-wing petrol state and is backing Assad and his crimes. And yes, the US does not have a sterling history of staying out of elections and countries and our intelligence agencies haven't been perfect, either! And it's all bad, but that doesn't negate bad actions by Putin and the GRU and doesn't excuse our President from backing them over fairly benign assessments from our intelligence agencies. It's almost like multiple things and ideas can exist at once.

i haven't thought Russia was our #1 'enemy' (i don't think we have one) and still don't. I DO think it's amazingly shortsighted and stupid to publicly side with its leader for no damn reason at all, and to posit that the EU/NATO is an enemy of the US and UK. the only goal there is destabilization. There is no end goal that isn't nefarious or stupid or both. in the end, it's probably about money. to not acknowledge their incursion into our election or try to stop future incursions is really, really weird and leads people to speculate wildly.

While I had a great meeting with NATO, raising vast amounts of money, I had an even better meeting with Vladimir Putin of Russia. Sadly, it is not being reported that way - the Fake News is going Crazy!

I do not think that today he can pull this off. This will be the biggest test of his drones.

The 24 hour news cycle and social media has treated every policy issue over the past however many years as a matter of our national existence (ultimate good v. ultimate evil) which has left the population completely unable to distinguish an actual one that is.

Trump doing damage control. He says he agrees with our Intelligence Agencies and also this fun quote ""My people came to me, Dan Coats came to me and some others, they said they think it's Russia. I have President Putin; he just said it's not Russia. I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be." was a simple misspeak. The not was silent, he meant "I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would NOT be."

It took 24 hours to come up with "I misspoke"? Gimme a fucking break. The disdain that this Administration has for the American people is beyond unbelievable.

Seriously. Why wouldn't he correct himself immediately?
