Kevin McCarthy noticed the President’s preference for cherry and strawberry starbursts during an Air Force One October flight. He noticed that Trump picked out “Just the red and the pink. A bit later, a couple of his aides saw me with those colors and told me, ‘Those are the president’s favorites.’” So McCarthy had a staffer sort through a batch of the candies, to make a jar of just the cherry and strawberry to give to the President with McCarthy’s name on it.

So it is no just publicly pandering, its feeding the healthiest president ever candy.

eh, Reagan was known for loving jelly beans, Clinton for loving McDonald's, and Bush for hating broccoli. There's plenty of other of things to get worked up over

My comment was more about McCarthy buying his way in with Starbusrts, and less about Trump. The bar is lower then I understood, and McCarthy is his new flavor of wingman, the flavor of cherry and strawberry. Imagine that your path to victory is filling a mason jar with cherry and strawberry Starburst candies, like a second grader might fancy for a teacher holiday gift.

This is not Van Halen and Brown M&M's, which is attributed to making sure that the contract was read, and honored, is the saddest buy in to the table ever.

BTW - I am much more concerned about interpreting the racist phrasing slightly audibly different, not intent to degrade, as a reason for "legal" denial by Cotton and Perdue.

Perdue said, "I'm telling you he did not use that word!

trump wanted to scuttle a deal that cuts legal immigration (which I oppose) because some of the immigrants coming in or remaining in the US would be coming from Afria or Haiti or El Salvador. Whether he said shit hole or shit house, he's a shit head racist that is a stain on our country. tom cotton is a white nationalist. Donald trump is a white nationalist. i dont know enough about Perdue but he's certainly revealing himself. this is who they are and who they have been. believe them.

The issue is not what adjective is applied to certain countries, it’s that countries are mentioned at all. If, as they say, all Trump and the Pubs want is merit-based immigration, country of origin would be irrelevant. Once they start adding country of origin to the equation that’s when you know they’re lying and/or telling half truths.

'bloody nose' for North Korea?

But last week, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed officials, that “U.S. officials are quietly debating whether it’s possible to mount a limited military strike against North Korean sites without igniting an all-out war on the Korean Peninsula.” The limited strike, the article says, would target a North Korean facility as punishment for one of the country’s nuclear or missile tests. South Korea says that Trump told its president that the Journal’s report was “completely wrong,” and that there would be no military strike while the two Koreas were in ongoing diplomatic talks

David Kang, the director of the University of Southern California’s Korean Studies Institute, was blunter in his assessment.

“The ‘bloody nose’ option is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard from D.C.,” Kang told me. “North Korea is incredibly consistent: If we hit them, they will hit us back. There is no possible way that they will just accept it.”

As an example, Kang pointed to a pair of events from eight years ago. In November 2009, South Korea shot up a North Korean ship in disputed waters off the peninsula and one North Korean sailor was killed. Sure enough, four months later, a South Korean warship was sunk.1

Specifically, Kang thought it likely that North Korea would respond to a bloody nose by attacking bases in Japan. Thousands of American troops and civilians live in Japan and South Korea.

“They are not crazy. They are not unpredictable,” Kang said of North Korea. “They are the most predictable country in the world.”

Shithouse country isn't a real idiom. You can be built like a brick shithouse, sure. But no native speaker of American English would use shithouse as an adjective.

If you do a little searching, you probably won't be surprised to learn that Perdue is a shit.

writeup in the Inquirer on the stupid mayor of Allentown, Ed Pawlowski. He's been indicted by the feds, ran for re-election and won because the democratic primary had too many people oppose him so he snuck by to the general and then the general had the same damn thing happen.

Executive Time Tweets:

We must have Security at our VERY DANGEROUS SOUTHERN BORDER, and we must have a great WALL to help protect us, and to help stop the massive inflow of drugs pouring into our country!

The Democrats want to shut down the Government over Amnesty for all and Border Security. The biggest loser will be our rapidly rebuilding Military, at a time we need it more than ever. We need a merit based system of immigration, and we need it now! No more dangerous Lottery.

Do you notice the Fake News Mainstream Media never likes covering the great and record setting economic news, but rather talks about anything negative or that can be turned into the negative. The Russian Collusion Hoax is dead, except as it pertains to the Dems. Public gets it!

“90% of Trump 2017 news coverage was negative” -and much of it contrived!@foxandfriends

Unemployment for Black Americans is the lowest ever recorded. Trump approval ratings with Black Americans has doubled. Thank you, and it will get even (much) better! @FoxNews

Briebart reported it first I think. Not that I am going to look for it. In the google teaser I see it say 2 polls have him up!

One is some oddball cumulative analysis of 605,172 interviews SurveyMonkey conducted with Americans in 2017 according to the Atlantic. the other is a CBS poll. Neither of these in the quick look seem so say that at all.

From the Atlantic: "twice as many African American men as women gave Trump positive marks. In all, 23 percent of black men approved of Trump’s performance versus 11 percent of black women." That is not double the support over time. The Atlantic is hardly positive news for Trump, heck the article is titled The Voters Abandoning Donald Trump, and leads with "According to previously unpublished findings, the blue-collar whites at the core of his coalition have lost faith over his first year in office."

DHS testimony today. DHS Kirstjen Nielsen stated that there was a 30% increase in Unaccompanied Childern, and a 68% increase in Family Units from October through December. I assume that this is fuel for the wall. They check the children for trafficking when discovered (that is a good practice).

Not sure if it was mostly local news, but Pence went to a huge baptist church with a significant black congregation in Maryland over the weekend. He sat in the front row, and the pastor said what God struck in him.

“I stand today as your pastor to vehemently denounce and reject any such characterizations of the nations of Africa and of our brothers and sisters in Haiti,” Watson told his congregation as Pence looked on.

“And I further say: Whoever made such a statement, whoever used such a visceral, disrespectful, dehumanizing adjective to characterize the nations of Africa, whoever said it, is wrong. And they ought to be held accountable.”

Mike was reportedly red faced. At least he did not go a Colts game, up and leave.
