Buttons for Buffoons - POLITICS

Kirstjen Nielsen refusing to answer questions directly about words used. She tried to throw the hook with 'exact word' from the playbook. Leahy is gong to BBQ his time trying to get an actual answer. "Tough language" is all she will say.

The part below is annoying because Pence knew that he lied (if he really lied to Pence at all -- I REALLY doubt he did) and Pence did nothing. It's frustrating because Cummings sent him info about it and pence did nothing. I don't like the fact that they are still buying into Pence knowing nothing, as if he's a victim in all of this. Pence was right there through the transition. His hands are filthy and I wish the media would stop giving him a pass.

And Mr. Bannon was directly involved in a number of other major moments, including the decision-making around the firing of Michael T. Flynn, the president’s first national security adviser, who was dismissed after he lied to Vice President Mike Pence about phone calls with the Russian ambassador during the presidential transition.

I have an almost irrational hatred of Kushner and Ivanka. I say "almost" because they are certainly worthy of the hatred. I sometimes really hate what someone is doing, but rarely do I actually hate the person. I don't even hate Donald. But there's something about this entitled couple , vomited from the bowels of two corrupt families, doing whatever they want and acting like they are too superior to ever get caught, that really makes me want to ... I don't know what, but something. I really think they are sociopaths, like for real. We're going to find out one day that he or she or both of them have done terrible things.

I can't wait until Hope Hicks has her own show on Fox. I'm going to call in once a week and ask if she enjoyed Trump touching her

the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's editorial yesterday (on MLK Jr Day) was about how the problem with the meeting at the White House was that people called Trump racist, not that Trump said it or the implications of it. one of the largest papers in the state!

The Heinz Foundation responded with a piece titled SHAME

some "friends' on facebook seem to believe what he said was true. Some countries ARE shitholes, and to deny that is just liberal stupidity. I think they missed the part where he said we shouldn't take anyone from those countries.

My wife showed me a video in her feed from a Tomi Lahren wannabe who was ranting on this very message. It wouldnt surprise me if that's the same video others have seen.

Edit: We decided that the video would be a good example of logical fallacies in action. We identified the use of ad hominem, red herring and non sequiturs without even trying.

I actually feel bad for them at times. They've lost all of their friends in the last 2 years. Their parents have put them into positions in their organizations where they are destined to fail. And they are being ridiculed for situations -- being in over their head, being in charge of policy where they have no experience, being asked to help with a Presidential transition when an actual political professional should have been summoned -- that are difficult to navigate. Especially if, as I suspect, they do not have both the raw intelligence and emotional intelligence to evaluate when they are unqualified for something and act on it. But they may periodically think "if my dumb dad/FIL can get elected President, maybe I can help out with this..." I sometimes don't blame them for being overconfident in their own abilities.

Sometimes. :) Mostly, I'm just amazed that we've gotten to this place in the country.

They need money, too.

Abraham Lincoln in 1855 wrote:As a nation, we began by declaring that 'all men are created equal.' We now practically read it 'all men are created equal, except negroes.' When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read 'all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics.' When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretense of loving liberty – to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy.
