We’ve not been super politically active, I’ve voted in all the presidential elections since I’ve been of age and maybe like 60% of the off year elections and runoffs/primaries, but with little conviction until this year. My wife has voted in just the presidential elections and no primaries and was registered as an independent so she couldn’t. In the last six months, she has registered as a democrat and got actively involved in the local elections. I’m really hoping that this is happening all over, people who were apathetic liberals/neutral get active and push back against this #$!&@.

Murkowski voting yes because attached to this bill will be the ability to drill in certain lands in Alaska. It's like her lifelong dream to get that passed. If she votes no, she will never get it.

I have no words for the president of the us endorsing a pedophile and casting doubt on the accusers. Media should just not put him on TV anymore.

The state House has passed a bill to reauthorize the Children's Health Insurance Program, which covers kids from families who make too much to qualify for Medicaid, but can't afford other insurance.

The routine bill became controversial this year, because the Senate inserted language that would have prohibited CHIP from covering transgender kids' transition surgeries.

The House axed that provision; now the bill returns to the Senate.

The deadline for reauthorization is the end of the year.

But that doesn't mean the issue of whether CHIP should pay for gender confirmation surgery is resolved.

"A separate bill will be running that will deal with the issue of gender identity," Reed said.

That bill already passed the House Health Committee, and now awaits a floor vote.

It would prohibit CHIP and Medicaid from covering transition surgeries, related drugs, or counseling.
