He needs to resign. He could not run if he were 2018 but he's 2020 so he just needs to go now to get a special election next year.

Someone who works at NBC (handle is @kleinstar) tweeted that he got an email response from Franken's Press Office:

I certainly don't remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann. As to the photo, it was clearly intended to be funny but wasn't. I shouldn't have done it.

All true, but you still have to resign.

what if all the creepy men stood up at once and screamed "do over!!."

If you were a racist in the 50's and then realized you made a mistake and never acted that way again, should you be killed for your actions in the 50's? I'm not talking about being contrite when caught, but actually doing good works from the 60's onwards, then someone finding out about bad actions in the 50's.

Not defending any of these bozos, just genuinely asking if people should be able to change as society changes without getting killed for past beliefs.

spoiler alert: I don't have an answer or really even an opinion. Just wondering.

Once again showing that irony is neither his strong suit, nor really understood by him, Don Jr. retweeted the Franken story.

On average, anyone earning less than $75,000 would see a tax increase. Neat bill, really help out the middle class like you promised.

Got something to do with how things expire over the course of 10 years. There are upfront tax cuts, with the expectation that things will just get extended but aren't included for scoring reasons.

I meant to say this hear, not in the other thread, but I want those sweet post counts:

McConnell is calling for an Ethics review of Al Franken in light of these allegations.

Lowers my opinion of Franken but falls massively short of retroactively disqualifying him for elected office.

He groped, or mimed groping, a woman asleep. How is that not disqualifying?

I would say the same thing of a Republican. Moore -- credibly accused of way worse things imo -- is running for office now.

More personally, it's hard to say for sure but I'm guessing that if that were my wife in that room, wearing a flak jacket in front of a photographer and presumably more people, and a comedian did that, in 2006, I wouldn't have thought much of it. I may have thought it was more juvenile than I would have expected...in poor taste...but I certainly wouldn't have been 'Well he can kiss any Senate plans goodbye'

SHE. WAS. ASLEEP.

There is no moral equivocation here. We do not compare sexual assaults and judge our actions on the worst of us. Just because Moore is still running does not mean anything that falls short of his alleged actions is fine, or shouldn't result in resignation. In Franken's case there are pictures, it's more than just allegations (which should be believed too).

How about things that are crimes and things that are not crimes?

Otherwise where do we draw the line? Is a failed kiss attempt in the prom limo impeachable? Parking in a handicapped spot?

Holy false equivalences Batman. If all Franken did was take the rehearsal kiss too far, then we might have a conversation (even though forcing a woman who visibly doens't want it to kiss you is gross enough), but he did more than that. He groped her while she was asleep ffs.
