When you say vets, do you mean Afghanistan/Iraq War era or Vietnam War? Just curious

It doesn't matter. Just anyone who has served.

I'd put Pittfan in that group, even though he's till serving.

ok, maybe only halfway. apparently they locked arms and kneeled BEFORE the anthem then stood for it.

Actually, that might be pretty good. Still deciding.

I didn't see it, but apparently they did kneel before the anthem, but did it as a team including Jerry but the most interesting thing to me is that they were loudly booed while they did it. Again I didn't see it, so I don't know if they were being booed because they are cowboys or if they were booed because they knelt. I'm looking forward to the hot takes about it though. If people have a problem with the cowboy's demonstration, there isn't the anthem or flag excuse to hide behind.

What the fuck is he talking about? Did he imply that any money they get should be paid back because they owe Wall Street money? He continues to be a horrible human being.

I agree. But some (many?) believe that kneeling during the anthem is disrespectful to the armed services, and it just makes me sad. Well, I feel a whole mix of emotions.... Annoyed, sad, frustrated, angry embarrassed, defeated, inspired. I guess mostly sad.

Yup. Got back from Iraq a bit before joining the board, but that's a fact and not a credential. In my opinion, the flag and the anthem are not a display to honor the soldiers, the soldiers are a display to honor them. And frankly, I don't think a sporting event has been the proper place for a display of that sort since Rome fell.

I understand what you mean. But to me, the military folks risk their lives so the rest of the country can exercise their rights, including kneeling during the Anthem. I'm pretty sure many vets don't agree with me.

It's true, you don't see many arguments that this shows disrespect toward park service employees, or the Peace Corps or the IRS. We accept that these people may work for the US Government but have a diverse set of goals and beliefs and won't take a protest against perceived failings of us policy or leaders as a personal indictment of the job they are doing. Lots of reasons why this doesn't seem to apply when the military is concerned, but I wish it weren't so.

So, is the government going to do anything to help Puerto Rico? That series of tweets make it sound like they aren't going to do much to help rebuild the island.

WH signaling they're going to try to blame all their failures on McConnell, the person singularly responsible for the president's only actual decent achievement so far. And it'll probably work, at least among his voters.

The nomination of Roy Moore, if it happens, is legit gross. I pretty strongly believe in voting for the party in legislative contests because they're votes not people, but I would vote for the Dem over him without batting an eye. Not sure I am a key target in the AL electorate and he'll probably win in December.

It's only going to get worse before it gets better.
