I'm annoyed that the flag is somehow only a symbol of our military, and not the principles they/we fight for.

yes, i've got an essay inside of me (which will probably never get out, just like my eclipse essay) and part of it is going to be a sensitive way of saying to veterans "sorry, the anthem isn't about you"

My neighbor tonight, who hung his flag upside down during the election, what is going on and on about disrespecting the flag. I wanted to have an honest open conversation, but emotionally I just couldn’t go there. So I smiled and nodded my head and wandered back across the street to think about that some more. And it’s very best moment it was a depressing interaction.
