So, our doc was a lot more optimistic than the nurse and ultrasound tech, and we were somewhat comforted. Baby is in the 9th percentile, just on the line, but within margin of error for everything to be fine. Everything can also just be fine at the 9th percentile - every other measure is normal-healthy (heart rate, umbilical cord flow, growth symmetry). Apparently, growth symmetry is a big key, if other areas of her body were lagging (compared to her head), there may be some trouble to worry about.
What it means for now? Lots and lots of monitoring. Weekly ultrasounds, weekly non-stress tests, and weekly visits with the doctor.
Further, apparently there is nothing we can do or could have done to prevent or correct this - which alleviates a lot of the guilt that slammed my wife the last few days.
For now we monitor, tons, but otherwise make no changes. Doc thinks we have a perfectly healthy, just small, baby in there.
Thanks again - for all the thoughts and well wishes, you're a great group of pals!
