I submit that it is also good news that you have a diagnosis and that it is medicinally treatable.

Probably not antibiotics forever but more like strep tests early and often and antibiotics are go at the first sign of a positive test.

Yep, at least you have something with a somewhat defined treatment plan. Hoping for the best.

was telling my wife about this stuff the other day. she looked up PANDAS and was like "i think i had PANDAS growing up." she apparently had constant strep throat and used to experience a lot of depression anxiety growing up. Her mom was a nurse and just kept on top of the drugs.

Update on PANDAS: kid has been on antibiotics since that was confirmed, and has generally been doing better. I think I mentioned that one of her issues has been that she isn't eating as much as she used to. We feared she had been losing weight, or at least not gaining as one would expect of a growing child (really we were sure of it but didn't want to get into the habit of checking her weight all the time). Tonight she stepped on the scale on her own and reported her weight... 10 pounds down from the last time she weighed herself, which was probably before we moved in June. I nearly had a panic attack. Then I had a thought; the scale is stored under the bathroom sink, and immediately in front of said sink is a thick bathmat; if she put the scale on the mat, that would make it tend to read low. Turns out yep, that's what she did. She re-weighed herself with the scale on the tiles and it was back where it was before. Obviously we'd be happier if it were up a little but at least no cause for panic.

Probably gonna take the plunge on an outdoor play set, which I wish you could just lease for a few years! Any advice?

Buy used! I found someone who had a set that was like $5k new and he didn't want it anymore, so I took it apart, hauled it away and set it up in my yard. My kids love it.

Me too! It was actually pretty easy though, I rented a box truck and kept as much intact as I could and loaded it in there and just took out bolts at major peices. It has a clubhouse/2 slides, monkey bars and swing set as the major pieces so basically just took off the slides, swings etc. and separated it into the 3 major pieces and relocated it. Took my untrained ass along with 2 friends like 5 hours to do it all.

I did the same thing. A person in the neighborhood was giving away their set if you came and got it so a buddy of mine with a pick-up went and got it and re-assembled it in my back yard. Then I got dinged by the HOA because I didn't get approval from my neighbors before I did it.

There's a house in my parent's neighborhood that has the most baller looking tree house I've ever seen. I would've killed for it as a kid and probably would've spent my entire time in there. Even as an adult I'm kinda jealous. Thing is legit.

Turning to you, friends...don't really know who else to talk to.

Wife and I are expecting little girl #2 in late Feb, but got a pretty jarring ultrasound report today. Baby's growth has basically stopped, and while all other metrics seem normal (HR, blood flow, etc.), they're worried about intrauterine growth restriction. Could be a blip, but my wife is beside herself...

Anyone else dealt with this? I'm thinking of trying to prop up the nutrition side with power packed smoothies and doing my best to make better meals around here, but, I'm kinda at a loss and barely holding it together myself...

We follow up with the doc tomorrow morning, this was the info gleaned from the US tech and the nurse. There may be nothing we can do, there may be some dietary interventions, bed rest...could be anything or nothing.

Just trying to wrap our heads around it without losing our minds, until we get more concrete guidance.
