Whaddya goin' do with these kids these days? (parenting)

My kids don't sleep. Like they just never ever ever sleep. Both stopped napping at like 2 and haven't napped since except for the super rare occasion that they are incredibly sick (I'm talking like maybe once or twice in their 3 and 7 years since stopping regular naps) and when we put them to bed at night they will stay up bitching and moaning in their beds until 10:00 that hey can't sleep EVERY FUCKING NIGHT. It's been brutal for us, we can't watch anything on TV at all because as soon as we turn on a TV anywhere in the house they'll complain it's too loud or if we go sit on the deck or something they'll complain because they can't hear us, this has caused a pretty bad lack of... "alone time" for us as well which has really sucked.

We told the doctor at their last checkup and the doctor recommended we try melatonin supplements at bedtime when they are cranky. HOLY SHIT, when we give it to them they are out within 30 min most nights, it's amazing. I've never been much on supplements and what not, but this really works.

At 16, Lil' Vulture is trying to make up for all the naps she didn't take when she was 3.

I got the 1 mg for our 5 yo and the 3 mg for the 10 yo. There are much higher doses, figured we'd start out as small as possible and it's great.

3mg puts a fat ass like myself out like a light, so the higher does shouldnt be needed unless a tolerance gets developed (I maybe take it once a month)

Now I feel like a clown for whining about my eldest quitting naps at three and a half. Twins sleep like rocks, amazingly

Oh yeah there was a 1-2 year period where we had to dose the middle one like BA Baracus before bed each night

Might try this with Mose Jr.

Can't recommend it enough. Seriously, getting the kids asleep by 9:30 has been life changing.

Thats great, man. Where do you get them from?

(The supplements, I mean. Not the kids)

Just a note (and maybe it's just me) - I have to make sure I have a good 8 hours to sleep if I'm going to take a melatonin. I've taken it at midnight and have been groggy for a couple hours when I get up at 5:30-6:00.

In a pretty brutal stretch right now.

The three-year-old moved to a bed, which ended his naps and has him waking up randomly throughout the night. As a result he went from my ever shining joy to a mixture of Cody Ross and Beelzebub.

Babies old enough to climb the walls, too young to know better. Parents wobbling.
