this could be enough to make a runoff race Fillon v Macron or maybe a compromise candidate; i doubt it though. i think we're in for a ride.

Does she hold some kind of executive office? Thought she was just a sort of congresspersonlike representative

the FN holds a few spots in the EU parliament; thus, they have staff, etc.

here's a good read from last year showing the relative power of each MEP

the new stupid ban

For the next 90 days, foreign nationals from Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen who are outside the
United States on the effective date of the order, do not currently have a valid visa on the effective date of this
order, and did not have a valid visa at 5:00 eastern standard time on January 27, 2017, are not eligible to travel
to the United States.

so it'll be retroactive...

Well yea, you can't have the terrorists rushing in their time machines to get a visa in the past to get to the country in the present to commit attacks in the future.

Good for liberals:

In a reversal, the Supreme Court says it will not hear Gavin Grimm's lawsuit against a school policy that requires students to use the bathroom corresponding to their biological sex. The court was scheduled to hear the case this month.

The Supreme Court sent the case back to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Monday, in a short opinion that cites the Trump administration's recent move to rescind federal guidance that protected transgender students' right to use bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their gender identity.

Grimm is a 17-year-old senior who was identified as a girl at birth and who came out as a boy when he was a freshman in high school in Gloucester, Va. He had initially been allowed to use the boys' restroom — but after parents complained, he was told to use a "unisex" bathroom.

Kinda. It's written in the conjunctive. So the part that you bolded simply means that anyone who hasn't had a valid visa for the past ten days cannot reenter. IOW, you don't have a valid visa AND your visa expired at or prior to 1/27/17 at 5pm.

That suggests to me that anyone whose visa just expired (presumably while traveling) may apply for reentry.

Sheesh - people yelling at each other on cable news about the claims of wire tapping buffered with 'The IRS targeted conservative organizations.' I am about 90% sure that the IRS probe was not as focused as the yelling, but clearly there was a desire to not talk about the elephant in the room. I cannot even bother to look at who is welling at who anymore. On with the desensitization!

"The thing with Sessions is that the Russians almost certainly have a recording of these conversations or detailed notes about the conversations," he said.
Painter continued: "And so, they've got something over Sessions. Sessions will be asked what was said in these conversations. And if that doesn't match what the Russians have in their records ... then they've got him, and they have this over him for the rest of his term. We have no idea of knowing whether we're in that situation, but it's just way too high a risk."

Don't feel bad. I had to read it three times before I was certain what it meant. Even then, it all depends on what guidance DHS hands down.

My guess is that there's some program to fast-track visaholders whose document expired while out of the country so long as they reapply within 10 days, and they're trying to avoid creating a conflict with that program. But that's just a total guess on my part.

In a Thunder Clap moment of this tweet storm I realized that by thumbing BHO as personally guiding the "taps" the pivot is to the statements that Putin personally over saw hacks and attacks on the electoral system. HFS. The stupidity of the claim blinded me to the 1:1 correlation of the claim between political opponent and known enemy of the country.

This seems consistent with the playbook so far. This is the "whatabout" method, and "not me, you" gambit.

Tillerson, Sessions & Kelly on to expound about the new old travel ban. kind of startling how poorly both tillerson and sessions read. Could be merely weak vision. Sessions is the suck standout, both in his reading capacity and in the weirdly defensive content of his remarks. Yeah we know the POTUS has powers to defend the US, dumbass

here's a Q&Athey have

#8: What is the process for overseas travelers affected by the Executive Order to request a waiver?
Waivers for overseas travelers without a valid U.S. visa will be adjudicated by the Department of State
in conjunction with a visa application.

in the Q&A they seriously use an anecdote as justification for the ban.

well, we have another 15-20% of the current POTUS's presidency for some new careening detour to affect ban 2.0's implementation, so
