Watched Get out last night. I enjoyed it, but also don't get the Oscar stuff.

Coco is really good. A fresh, original idea that's visually terrific. The source material is kinda dark though.

Was it hot? I love hot coco, especially with dark chocolate "source material." Not sure how original it is though.

Really thought I had posted about seeing Three Billboards outside Ebbing, but I guess not. Really enjoyed it and suspect there'll be more than one acting Oscar nominee from it. Not as consistently compelling as say Seven Psychopaths or Bruges, but still both dark and often hilarious. One of the character's transformations is not wholly believable, but that would be my only major quibble. Worth seeing, and enjoyable.

Saw Life (sci-fi horror flick with Jake Gyllenhaal & Ryan Reynolds) over two sessions with my trainer. Granted I couldn't give it my full attention but I thought it was very well done.

Would have been difficult to live up to the hype but I really enjoyed Lady Bird

I'm usually a sucker for the Jurassics but they seem to be running out of ideas. Trapped in hamster ball, saved by a dino-on-dino attack, mean raptor is nice to them, Goldblum 1994 speech...I may wait a week before I give in and see it

Taking the kids to see it tomorrow, looking forward to it.

Have you seen Book of Life? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2262227/

It’s also about dia de muertos and is pretty great. All the other girls her age watched frozen on a loop, my daughter watched this. Curious to see how Coco compares since it’s based on the same source material

I thought it was very good! The topic is one I occasionally ponder as I look through my Ancestry tree, too.

The Florida Project was beautiful and crushing. Similar in tone and story to Moonlight but even more naturalistic and raw. Probably my #1 of the year, even though I enjoyed Lady Bird more. Wind River up there.

Really looking forward to Call Me By My Name and Phantom Thread.

I'll probably watch it at 1 am some Saturday night to make sure, but Max Landis and David Ayer is such a horrible combo of writer and director, like if you couldn't get Zak Snyder but wanted two guys who would approximate his style if you put them together
