i'm headed out the door, but i have a really really strong opinion on this pence stuff and will see if i can boil it down to it's essentials. his first tweet (and i understand the 2nd and 3rd make up for it a bit or at least sound a bit better) is a good representation of subtle racism, something i'm sure i've been guilty of for awhile but have lately really tried to understand/identify when i hear it or even do it. it's about status, even in a simple statement, and being tone deaf.

the best argument or breakdown of this is from an episode of Opie & Anthony when Patrice Oneal (RIP) was talking about the Planet of the Apes remake when at the end, James Franco says "Now you're free" and goes off on this damning tirade about it being this big "racial understanding" moment, yet how condescending it is to be told your'e free, instead of getting the respect or recognition you've earned for suffering and fighting for freedom. i guess it's similar to "mansplaining".

it pops up again in Hidden Figures, when Kirsten DUnst's character says "regardless of what you think, i don't have a problem with you [as a black woman]" to which the black woman responds something like "i know you honestly believe that."

that's why people have a problem with pence's first tweet and all statements from white peeps that sound like that. jerz actually makes the point that most people probably don't know it's national freedom day or what it celebrates. so, it's incumbent upon pence to know the situation and not sound anything like a clueless whitebread piece of shit. Just spent the past hour plus at my district comittee persons house talking about running for committee. Unfortunately it's not open for two more years. He however is going to introduce me to the state senator and state Rep for our area and see what happens there.

well like you said, no one has heard of this new fangled holiday. everyone at this point has heard of Black History Month. This administration is the embodiment of "why caint there be a White history month?!?!" politics, so it's not hard to understand why it's tone deaf at best, and at this point, if we're using the campaign and the last couple weeks as context, and using occams razor, it's rotten at worst.

Stern said he considers Trump a friend, but is opposed to his politics.

"I like Donald very much personally. I was shocked when he decided to run for president, and even more shocked that sort of, people took it seriously," Stern said.

"I remember saying to him when he announced his presidency, I remember being quite amazed, because I remember him being for Hillary Clinton," Stern added.

"And I remember him being very--I mean he was pro-abortion. So the new Donald Trump kind of surprised me."

Stern said he doesn't believe Trump has had a change of heart on issues like abortion, but is instead playing to his base. The radio host said he also believed Trump ran for president solely to get a larger contract from NBC for "The Apprentice."

"I think it started out as like a kinda cool, fun thing to do in order to get a couple more bucks out of NBC for The Apprentice, I actually do believe that," Stern said.

"He just wanted a couple more bucks out of NBC, and that is why Donald is calling for voter fraud investigations. He's pissed he won. He still wants Hillary Clinton to win. He's so f—ing pissed, he's hoping that he can find some voter fraud and hand it over to Hillary."

I think it's funny people are shocked Berkeley kids reacted violently to that POS Milo. Bay Area yungins have about a 70 year+ history of fighting tools of oppression with violence.

like I said,

1) I don't really keep track of Pence's utterances of any kind, much less tweets
2) he creeps me out

sure hoping you'll keep us up to date on his staff's diligent social media efforts to make him seem less creepy

Got my reply from Toomey. Kinda surprising it took 4 days to copy/paste the carefully worded bullshit he spewed Monday after a form letter thank you.

What a knucklefuck.

One of Toomey's aides in a form letter wrote:Thank you for contacting me about President Trump's executive order concerning entry of certain foreign nationals to the U.S. I appreciate hearing from you.

It is crucial that our nation strike the right balance between defending our people against the deadly threat of international terrorism and providing a safe haven for innocent refugees seeking peace and freedom.
I support the administration's decision to increase vetting and temporarily suspend the admission of certain individuals from states that sponsor or provide safe havens to terrorists, or are too weak to prosecute terrorists within their borders. Terrorists have successfully infiltrated refugee populations entering Europe and gone on to commit heinous acts of barbarity. I have long been concerned about our ability to distinguish between predominantly peaceful and innocent refugees, and the likely rare, but lethal, terrorists in the midst of those refugees coming from terror havens and lawless lands. That is why I, along with a bipartisan majority of the House and Senate, supported the SAFE Act, which called for enhanced vetting.

Unfortunately, the initial executive order was flawed - it was too broad and poorly explained. This apparently resulted in denied entry into the United States for lawful permanent residents and others who should have been allowed immediate entry. Fortunately, the administration has clarified that this order does not apply to Green Card holders and that the Secretaries of State and Homeland Security have the ability to grant exceptions which certainly should apply to, among others, foreign nationals who served the U.S. military in various support roles.
I look forward to learning more about how the administration intends to enforce this executive order, to determine whether it indeed strikes the appropriate balance between defending our nation and maintaining our ability to provide a safe haven for persecuted individuals. I value knowing your input on this important issue.
Thank you again for your correspondence. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,

Signature
Pat Toomey

Darrell Issa: Obama regulation was a 'dirty trick'

This interview was of amazing shit for sure Daniel Issa goes on and on about how clean water in mining regions wasn't a priority or a problem for the Obama administration until the end, and it wasn't a problem for Clinton, wasn't a problem for Bush, it wasn't a problem for Reagan, so it's not a problem. He thinks it was about killing mining (hey dickhead, it's been dead for a really long fucking time). It was pretty fucking amazing. As insane is the stuff he had to say about Iran which was another Obama dirty trick. Only blame and vitriol, and always Barry. Barry hate and blame on as many network for as long as they can blend it. The quest to destroy BHO's legacy is shocking.

It's a CNN piece.

Apparently there was an interview today where Toomey said the people outside his offices are professional protestors and he doesn't really know what they want.
