Patton Oswalt captured what I don't have the capacity to put into words.

Boston. Fucking horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

that kid makes this so much more real to me because i have seen him a million times. he follows mom or dad to each spectator point holding his little sign that he made, ringing his cowbell, enduring the cold or the rain or the heat, and each time he sees her or him for a few fleeting moments, all of that waiting time is worth it. he jumps, he screams, he hugs mom or dad, and then he packs everything up and heads to the next spot and does it all over again. and now he's gone.

Long day. Nothing significant to pass along.

My guess is this is a lone wolf act of terrorism but that's based off nothing more than the crude design of the bombs and the political significance of the day.

We'll get those who are responsible for this act. Hopefully we can get them in front of a courtroom and jury.

Nothing shocks me anymore. I'm just that jaded. When you see a picture of wounded man in a wheelchair with both legs shredded, and the first thing that comes to mind is "eh, I've seen worse in person" than you know you've seen too much bullsheet in your life.

Prayers and thoughts are with the wounded, the dead and the families and friends of the wounded and dead. The chowderheads are rugged jagoffs, they'll come back next year with mandatory beer chugging contests every mile of the fuggin marathon.

Big props to the cops, the firemen, the EMS personnel and the National Guard. Saw a LOT of Guardsmen out there running towards the blast sites and treating the injured.

On the other hand, I am in constantly in awe of ER doctors and trauma surgeons. I think they are the most awesome people in the world

FFS he is the TRAUMA SURGEON. He said he operated on 6 people today. He's been doing surgeries since 8 AM.
