I believe you have to be 21 to own military style weapons in CT.... Not sure if that is correct, though. Maybe she bought them for him as a gift? Which was a mistake, obviously...

exactly..."praying for the victims" will not prevent this from happening again. The Nightman Cometh wrote:If people respond to something terrible by advocating what they truly believe will prevent it (religion, gun control) that doesn't seem like a wrong response.
The only way to disrespect the victims is to continue the status quo and pretend this never happened.

horrendous, I can't even imagine, my heart goes out to these poor people.Trent Steele wrote:How the parents found out their children were dead is horrifying. It was literally process of elimination. The parents all gathered at the fire station. Then they brought the children there. The ones left at the fire station when there were no more children to bring out were the ones whose children had died.

something about the children's bodies still being inside the school and so close to the monster who did this is almost worse than the initial shock. how can they tell 20 sets of parents that they can't see their children? fuck crime scenes and protocol, these parents don't need a computer modeled recreation, they need to hold their child one last time. this is completely unacceptable to me. there is nothing that would keep me away from that school.
this is all too formulaic, media and police beurocracy and vigils and prayer chains, it's all so hollow and meaningless to me.
this needs to be a wakeup call. we have fostered a culture of violence and indifference. mental illness is a red herring. countries who don't have guns don't have these mass shootings. i have no faith left in humanity or this county's future. we should all be outraged, and if you can still defend guns today then fuck you, your values are truly twisted and i don't want anything to do with you.
