It's unacceptable, especially given the shooter is dead and there won't be a trial. I can see a class action suit for mental cruelty coming out of this, not that I condone it, just wouldn't surprise me.

they have to make sure there isn't evidence of another shooter, among other things. With COlumbine they were worried the bodies might be booby-trapped

All bodies have been identified and removed from school and families notified. Thank god, i couldn't imagine why it would take till Sunday to do this. Even 24 hours seems outrageous.

The police are doing the best job they can under hard and awful circumstances. Maybe cut them some slack.

the girl crying on her cell phone was trying to get info about her sister who teaches there. she looks similar to vicki soto who was a first grade teacher and one of the two victims names that has come out.

i dont know just guessing but if true adds another deeply horrifying emotional level to that image.

also weird reports about how the shooter was at the school the day before and got in some sort of altercation.

school officials are putting distance between the school and the guy's mom. She wasn't a teacher and they're making the case she was not/was never employed by the school.

also a bunch of stuff coming out linking her gun ownership to her interest in survivalist activities. Word is she enjoyed using her firearms at local ranges.

Number of guns the guy had is also bobbing around. began with 2 + a rifle, then up to 4 handguns, now they're not so sure, blah. no ammunition count. some assertions that he fired 100+ rounds

And I would suspect that Newton isn't NYC, and with the entire nation's media all over every single procedure -- they will err on pissing people off to make sure they aren't tied up in litigation and berated later...

I am going to do everything I can not to see the kids faces. Probably impossible.

All were ages 6 and 7. Each shot multiple times.
