Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Be honest: more nerdy: fantasy football or Star Wars?

Exactly.

Well, yeah. He's just a vehicle for Jar Jar's force ghost at this point.

Nerd no longer has any real meaning.
Lining up to see Star Wars, even in costume, is not that nerdy. It's more mainstream than say going to Rocky Horror in costume ever was. Probably about even with standing on line for a bottle of Bourbon County Stout. I'm guessing hardcore star wars people have more sex than hardcore fantasy football players.

About the only thing I think that's still truly the domain of nerdy are Society for Creative Anachronism people. And I bet they get laid pretty regularly too. Probably more than Star Wars fanboys, beer geeks, and fantasy football players. Less than the Rocky Horror Picture people though.

Yet going to a football game in a jersey and face paint isn't "nerdy" for some reason. (And I've never done either.)

Not to mention something like following Phish or the Dead around the country and being able to recite which songs they covered on June 3, 2002, in Canandaigua NY isn't "nerdy" either.

And hell yes to whoever compared it to extreme fantasy football participants.

It all depends on your particular point of view. I don't understand why people are mocked for enjoying some things to an extreme degree but not others. Luckily that's not as much of a problem as it used to be.

i really can't think of a fantasy football participant that is that level of nerdom, though. Wehre are they lined up in public? Most are in it to make some money and make the league a little fun. Its not D&D fantasy

no, there's no acting out, you're not acting like you're one of the characters, any of that. completely different. you can be completely passive and not even participate after setting the lineup
