that for me has become next to impossible inasmuch as my wife won't let me go to a movie with a lissome 16-yr-old girl and - well, you know

What is everyone's feeling/opinion on the likelihood of the original cast being brought back for episode 7? I think the prequels failed for many reasons, but one being that Lucas completely stuck out in casting both actors he employed for the role of child & young adult Anakin Skywalker. Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen were both terrible, and essentially sank the movies with their central roles in the prequels. If I'm in the theater in 2015, I'm excited the moment I see Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill on the screen (maybe Billy Dee too?). The best moments of the prequels IMHO are when we see R2, C3PO & Yoda for the same reason IMHO.

Mark Hamill once said that George approached him about appearing in more sequels, sometime after the prequels came out.

And I think it could be good, but wouldn't bet on it.

e: found an article from today where it says George talked to him & Carrie Fisher just last year:
http://www.firstshowing.net/2012/mark-h ... last-year/

So you would assume those 2 would be involved. Carrie better hit weight watchers.

I don't know if I buy this any more (I used to). Going to the theater is almost as degrading as flying on an airplane at this point. Maybe it depends on where you live, and what movie/showing you go to.

I'm just going to put this out there: I'm okay if they cast Movie Stars in Episode 7. Brad Pitt? George Clooney? I don't give a crap. Make a good movie. If it takes movie stars to do that, they they should do it.

No when I was old and cranky I said movie theaters had to deliver something home theaters couldn't.

If it were empty, sure.

Never, ever see a horror movie in a movie theater. Ever.

Paranormal Activity 4 - one csucker in the back giggling during tense periods - destroying the entire atmosphere of the film. There's no getting that back.

I'm probably a bigger Star Wars fan than anyone on this board (or at least in the 99th percentile). I simply do not want Episodes VII - IX if George Lucas is in any way associated with it.

I don't care if they can get use a time machine to bring back 1980 Harrison Ford to reprise Han (by 1983 he was too disinterested in the role). Lucas sucks at writing scripts and directing films. Period. His ideas are genius, but he needs to bring other talented people into the fold and stop being an egomaniac.

So this is potentially the biggest present ever.

he is a creative consultant. that means he's not doing anything. he gave them some ideas, and they said they're going to based them off NOTHING from anything previously published. he wants to make films like he did after film school and is going to put most of his money into education and such. he's in teh twilight of his career and knows it.

so don't worry.

I'm still reluctant to get on board until I know for certain who will be helming the project. For example, I'm an enormous Joss Whedon fan, but I cringe at the idea of him doing a Star Wars film (and he seems to be all the popular choice on Twitter). And I'm nervous that if the project runs into problems, that Lucas will be given more authority like what happened with the Hobbit and Peter Jackson (although that appears to have been a good thing).

Did the rumor that Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird are those who will be responsible hit BSG?

I need to see Star Trek II and World War Z to be sure, but I think I'm on the verge of declaring Lindelof a crap factory.
