stark could be right about the mechanics being different, but the mechanics could be different for 100 different reasons, some incurable. stark has no idea why it's happening

I don't think it is possible to have success from his arm slot. You just wont be able to have good control. He is the rh version of Jonathan Sanchez in terms of release points. He may not be injured but I think there must be something physical that won't allow him to get his body back to that release point.

He's been hurt most by his location and trying to force cutters that don't cut anymore. His arm slot is still high enough that he's getting on top of his breaking balls and changeups, so that to me would indicate it's not TOO low yet

My thoughts on the location thing are that he knows his pitches don't have as much movement so he's trying to aim them. In previous years, I've read where he basically threw his cutter and sinker right down the middle because they were so nasty. Cutter broke left, sinker broke right. He can't do that anymore so it's probably causing him problems and frustration. Hopefully he adjusts and can find success as merely a "good sinkerball pitcher" vs. "Cartoon-ball Roy Halladay"
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Yeah I can't accept that he can't at least be a rich man's Kendrick, as someone else here put it the other day. With much better offspeed stuff.

What's with all the Dubee hate all of a sudden? I thought the consensus opinion was Dubee was pretty good?

I feel like he's smug, so he comes across poorly, but I don't have a problem with him at all

A ton of the Phils' pitchers have significantly improved under Dubee

Seems like people are mad at him for obfuscating on Halladay's condition and/or bringing him north, but I feel like the pitching results over the years (especially Madson, Happ, Worley, and Kendrick) reflect really well on him

Let's not forget that Dubee and Hamels basically added an elite cutter to his repertoire over the process of a few months

And Halladay's changeup, which should be his focus now imo

I knew Halladay's arm slot was lower, I just didn't know if there was evidence that you couldn't succeed from a lower arm slot. He's not pitching the same way, but that doesn't mean he can't succeed with adjustments.

Most of the guys with his current arm slot are soft-tossers or stink. It isn't going to be easy.

yeah, but that's been the battle since spring training anyway. he's gotta learn how to throw his off-speed stuff for strikes and work backwards. it's gonna be a tough battle until he can cut down on walks with those pitches.
