He's from Colorado
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

So where does Halladay rank in the Philadelphia sports Pantheon? I'm thinking about that list that someone posted recently. Is Halladay on that list now, or has he simply not been in Philly long enough yet?

Is it reasonable to argue that last night's performance is the greatest single game performance in Philly sports history?

considering Ricky Watters was seventh on that list, I don't think duration is a factor

This morning, Mike Schmidt called it the greatest moment in Philly sports history.

It was certainly the most historically significant, but for me the 2008 finale, ending a drought that encompassed my whole life as a fan to that point, still wins.

Speaking of Mike Schmidt, anyone hear John Boruk last night on Comcast Sportsnite? In reporting that Shane passed Michael Jack on the all-time Phillies post-season hit list, John left the "M" out of the pronunciation of "Schmidt". It . . . . . . .was. . . . . . . . . AWESOME!

I was thinking single game performance by a single athlete, which I would see as different from greatest moment in sports history.

We'll look back and talk about this performance I think more than the 2008 WS. Easily the greatest sporting day of my life. Awesome that I scored a ticket for yesterday.
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?

Lots of players on this team will pass Schmidt for post-season records, simply because when you get to the playoffs 4 years in a row (and likely more), it's bound to happen.

One of the all time great moments.

But, Game 5 of the 80 NLCS, Game 6 of 80 WS and Game 5 of 08 WS are all more important in Phillies history.

It seems like this one is more important to baseball history in general than Phillies history specifically.

I share your perspective

I'm sure there will be quibblers saying Halladay threw his 0-hitter in a mere division championship series - but those commenters should hold their tongues until after this postseason concludes, because you never know
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Forgive me for waxing rhapsodic for a bit--

One of the great things about baseball is sometimes it's a team game, but sometimes it really is about individual performance. Yesterday may not have been the greatest day in Phillies history. But to acknowledge that misses the point. Yesterday was about the performance of one man, Roy Halladay, who happened to be in a Phillies uniform.
