Lots of players on this team will pass Schmidt for post-season records, simply because when you get to the playoffs 4 years in a row (and likely more), it's bound to happen.

FWIW, Shane passed him while playing in fewer playoff games
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

true, but I don't give post season records like that much credence as you can take any amount of random games of the same sample size and find that Bruntlett did better than Hank Aaron during one stretch. If you want to say that Vic has done well in the post season so far, then that's fine.

But, Game 5 of the 80 NLCS, Game 6 of 80 WS and Game 5 of 08 WS are all more important in Phillies history.

It seems like this one is more important to baseball history in general than Phillies history specifically.

Matt Stairs vs. Jonathan Broxton has to be in that discussion as well. That was the moment where we all started to realize that 2008 might just be our year. Thirty years from now, we'll all still be talking about Stairs and Broxton like others talk about Bobby Thompson and Ralph Branca.

That being said, other than the 2008 clincher, last night was the most FUN I've ever had watching a Phillies game. Absolutely non-stop enjoyment. No moments of agony or despair, wondering if our boys have just ONE more rally in them... just pure, unadulterated joy while watching a future Hall of Famer absolutely decimate the opposition in his playoff debut... while wearing a Phillies uniform.

Hell, the offense even spotted him a first inning lead, which was quickly extended, so we never even had the "OMG is the offense going to hang Doc out to dry" thoughts like we had during the May perfecto.

The 2001 me would punch the 2010 me in the face for even suggesting that such a thing would ever happen.

If you watched the post-game last night, you saw what I used to see. He was still deep in his Cyborg-Halladay mode as he did interviews. The guy’s scary focused.

How scary? Let me tell you a little story.

The Jays were in Boston one pointless weekend a couple of years ago. The visitor’s clubhouse at Fenway is as big as your garage. Doesn’t matter how small your garage is. The players have to walk outside into the causeway to put on their pants.

Before each start, Halladay spends an inordinate amount of time pacing around to nowhere. So here he was, stepping over guys sprawled in front of lockers or crashed out on the cheap leather couch watching Talladega Nights. Again.

Halladay’s sort of hot-footing it around the place, staring off into space, his mouth open. Over in one corner, Vernon Wells is talking about his golf game. He’s showing someone the problem with his swing. His got his hands clasped in front of him, and he’s wiggling his butt like Donald Duck.

As Robot Halladay approaches, Wells suddenly jerks his clasped hands backward, preparing to fake swing. He smashes the passing Halladay right in the face. Like, square in the jaw. You or I would’ve been knocked out. Halladay – who is an enormous man – was rocked. He reeled, his knees wobbled, but he just managed to keep his balance. And then, without saying anything or acknowledging what had just happened, he moved on. Wells had his hand in front of his mouth doing the old “Oh Lord No!” motion, but Halladay was already gone. He took precisely two steps and moved from one side of the room to the other, and slipped through the door that led to the trainer’s closet.

At first, Wells kind of laughed. Looked at his buddies for support. Then you could see him getting worried. He stood there for a few seconds, unsure of what to do. Should he follow him? Is he hurt? Is that why he went into the trainer’s room?

Halladay then pops back out of the training room – I guess he was just looking for somewhere new to pace. Wells has to physically stop him from just blasting past. Halladay seems to see him for the very first time.

“Are you okay?” Wells whispers, with genuine concern.

Halladay just stares. And stares. And stares. Zombie Halladay! Finally he says, “Sure.”

And then keeps walking.

He won that night.

I'm sitting here thinking there's a decent chance Halladay does it again in his next start. It's a belief I haven't been able to shake all day.

What would be better? A 27 pitch perfecto or an 81 pitch 27 K perfecto?

If it was a 27 pitch perfecto, all anyone would be talking about is BABIP, so I prefer the 81 pitch one.

I love Cliff Lee. I do feel bad for him because I think he really loved being here too. I hope he truly does great out there and enjoys himself. Those fans (does Seattle have fans?) better cheer for him half as hard as we did.

Interesting quote from Amaro on Eskin tonight. He said he spoke to Lee, and Lee wasn't happy. Amaro also dropped in a "who knows, maybe our paths will cross again" comment when talking about Lee.

I'll put down a nice wager that he wins the Cy Young next year.

Stark:

The Phillies have batted around the idea of an extension for baseball's most prominent former Blue Jay, Roy Halladay, but are proceeding slowly -- for now.

"I guess it's still possible," said Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. "But a lot has to do with how he feels and how he performs. So that's a decision and a conversation that would probably have to go into the spring, and maybe into the season."

Before Halladay's shoulder started acting up in midseason, the Phillies had actually had some preliminary talks with his agent, Greg Landry, about an extension that would keep Halladay in Philadelphia beyond next year -- and bring his salary more in line with the $24 million average annual value of Cliff Lee's deal. But Halladay's shoulder -- and the Phillies -- put an end to those talks.

"We kicked it around, but we tabled it," Amaro said. "It just wasn't the right time to focus on that."

Now, unless that extension talk resurfaces, Halladay will almost certainly become a free agent next winter. He'd need to bounce back from shoulder surgery and grind through 258 2/3 innings next year to vest his $20 million option for 2014. And only once in his 15 big league seasons has he worked that many innings: In 2003. At age 26.
