TSN:
While a lot of the recent talk surrounding any Roy Halladay trade has centered around the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, at least one team from out West is seriously interested in the former Cy Young Award winner.

According to his Twitter account, USA Today's Bob Nightengale is reporting that the Los Angels Dodgers have strong interest in Halladay.

"#MLB The Dodgers badly need an ace and are focusing on Blue Jay ace Roy Halladay. The Dodgers would have to give up Billingsley and others," Nightengale wrote.

While there has been some concerns that the divorce proceedings of Dodgers' owner Frank McCourt and his wife Jamie would effect the team's ability to spend in the off-season that doesn't appear to be the case.

"We're full steam ahead on every front," Dodgers' COO Dennis Mannion told Foxsports.com earlier in the day in an unrelated story to the Halladay report.

I can't see why the Jays would want Billingsly, who figures to get expensive pretty quick.

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports tweets that the Dodgers and Blue Jays are once again discussing Roy Halladay. Earlier today we learned that Toronto GM Alex Anthopoulos had contacted the Cubs about moving Halladay, and as Brown said, it looks like he's "restarting the process of moving Doc."

The Blue Jays have contacted the Cubs regarding Roy Halladay, reports Carrie Muskat of MLB.com.

Don't get too excited, Cubs fans. Muskat writes that Chicago can't afford Halladay's $15.10 million salary in 2010 without including Milton Bradley in the deal. Unfortunately for the Cubs, Bradley isn't on Toronto's wishlist. In addition, the Blue Jays will likely ask for top prospect Starlin Castro, a player the Cubs are hesitant to part with. Either way, the Blue Jays told the Cubs that they intend to move Halladay this winter.

Is it in the job description of the Toronto GM that they have to be retards? Doesn't this limit their leverage in trade talks to some degree? They're basically admitting that they have to trade him, no?

unless they're saying they'd prefer draft picks to whatever a team wants to offer them. they could take that to the 2010 trade deadline as their barometer. i still think someone would be desperate enough to overpay for him.
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

ESPN.com:
The Boston Red Sox are ready to deal and they want to see an ace.

Citing an unnamed source, the New York Daily News reported on Tuesday that the team is "putting on a full-court press" to acquire Roy Halladay from the Toronto Blue Jays.

"They would love to get it wrapped up before the winter meetings [beginning Dec. 7]," the source said, according to the newspaper.

Halladay's name was mentioned prominently in relation to the Red Sox at the trade deadline last summer when the Jays said they were shopping the right-hander, but no deal could be worked out and he stayed put.

The six-time All-Star went 17-10 with a 2.79 ERA and 208 strikeouts in 2009, but the Jays finished 75-87 and a whopping 28 games behind the first-place Yankees.

Halladay, who has pitched his entire 12-year career with Toronto, has expressed a desire to win. The Red Sox, Yankees, and Angels have all been mentioned prominently as possible suitors for the 2003 Cy Young winner.

I really can't see the Blue Jays trading within the division.

The Red Sox are the one team that can really trump the Phillies in terms of prospects. If they want Halladay, he's theirs.

Im not entirely sure of that. To me, they have two legit #1 type prospects in Westmoreland and Kelly. Westmoreland is a freakishly good athletic outfielder who will hit for power and steal 25-30 bags a year. But he's been hurt in both of his rookie ball seasons, so he has to actually play a full year, and he hasnt even made it to A ball yet. Kelly wants to be a SS, but he cant really hit, and he's been good on the mound. But he's basically Kyle Drabek, he's not an uber-ace type prospect.

In a way, the Red Sox system is eerily similar to ours.

Westmoreland/Domonic Brown, but Brown actually gets the edge
Kelly/Drabek are basically the same
Reddick/Taylor are very similar outfielders, Taylor might get the edge
Kalish/Gose isn't a perfect comp, Kalish has more power and feel at the plate, Gose is a better athlete, has more speed and a better arm, but Kalish has had injury issues.

The next group is a pretty big falloff from the top 4 guys for Boston. If Kalish is their 4th best prospect (Goldstein thinks so), then I think our #4 prospect is actually better, if you consider d'Arnaud our #4, as Id take him over Kalish. The Sox have some interesting guys in their 5-10 spots, depending how you rank them, but so do the Phillies. I think our system, especially the top 3, ranks right up there with most teams, and we have a lot of mid level depth.

I would think the Jays would want Clay Buchholz and it seems like the Red Sox are reluctant to trade him as the Phillies are with Drabek.

I'm actually fine with Halladay to the Sox. Or course it may domino into Lackey to the Yankees to counter

If this goes anything like the trade deadline stuff, we should probably be wondering what other stud is just going to "show up" thanks to Rube's awesome smugness, and take our eyes off of the distraction while he works his voodoo.
