FTN said he bases his analysis on watching the players, not popular opinion. While I respect Law's body of work and his opinion as his own, he really needs to get out more. He sounds like he hasn't even seen Drabek since rookie ball.

It doesnt matter. No one listens to Law.

In 2002, Law was hired by the Toronto Blue Jays as a "Consultant to Baseball Operations" after impressing Blue Jays' general manager J. P. Ricciardi during the offseason winter meetings.[4] After Paul DePodesta recommended Law to him, Ricciardi asked Law's opinions regarding the approaching Rule 5 draft of that year, and, impressed with Law's answers and explanations, offered him a position with the team.[5] During his time with the Blue Jays, he acted as a scout, contract negotiator, and provided assistance to the team's marketing and sales staffs.[2] Law reached the position of Special Assistant to the GM before resigning in 2006.

So, he spent a few years being some sub-Charley Kerfeld gopher after working at Baseball Prospectus? I must have missed the part where he developed his infallible minor league scouting skills.

The Phillies made a new offer that was rejected by the Jays over the weekend, sources said. The offer, according to ESPN.com, included left- hander J.A. Happ, right-hander Carlos Carrasco, outfielder Michael Taylor and shortstop Jason Donald.

Two sources, however, said those names were inaccurate. One said the Phillies' offer was actually stronger than the one that was reported, though it did not include prized right-hander Kyle Drabek. The Jays initially asked for Drabek, Happ and outfielder Dominic Brown.

You know what gets this done? Gillick calls Beeston and they work it out. Beeston has to know that JPR is a fool.

If it was for another team I'd agree - but if JPR listens to him or asked him for a favor to go out and smear the phils prospect - it's a problem.

Seems like every other tweet Law posts is a knock on the Phils:

They seriously need to start engaging Cleveland and some other teams about other starters they are interested in. Make contact then float some rumors. We need to be prepared to grab someone else quick or get Riccardi worried that we will. This guy is losing his job if he trades Doc or not and a competent trade looks better than doing nothing for a non contender.

Gotta say I'd be pretty happy going into a playoff series with Cliff Lee as a consolation prize also knowing I still have almost all our best prospects

to be fair to keith law, Id take Smoak and Feliz over Drabek and Brown or Taylor by a decent margin. Texas has the best farm system in baseball by quite a distance.

that said, they dont have the money for halladay.

I've now come to terms with Blanton being our number 2 in the playoffs. Is there a reason he has been so much better this year?

Keith Law just doesn't like our prospects that much. He is in the minority. I trust the majority. And I trust that the Blue Jays and every other MLB org. don't give two shits what Keith Law is saying at this point.
Do it again!

I'm more inline with this sentiment, although I would like it to be a Plan C after a serious run at Lee.
Get Sherrill and/or Qualls, some right handed pop (Gomes?), some infield help (Carroll, Bloomquist?) and hope the offense carries you.
The replacement for Brunt should have happened already, frankly.
It would suck if it came to that but we'd still have a good shot.
